Dexaltin Oral Paste is a prescription-strength preparation that belongs to the corticosteroid drug class. Its active ingredient is dexamethasone, a well-known anti-inflammatory agent. Like many medications, it may cause some side effects such as slight irritation in the mouth, dry feeling over the gums, taste disturbance, or mild burning during initial use. If you’re using this paste, it’s good to know that it’s applied topically inside your mouth, and you shouldn’ eat, drink or rinse your mouth immediately after applying to get the full benefit.

Apply a small amount directly to the affected area inside your mouth using a clean finger, usually after meals or as directed by your doctor.

The typical dosage is a pea-sized amount applied two to three times daily, or as advised by your healthcare provider.
