Overview

Duoderm CGF Control Gel Formula 4×4 Dressing is a sterile hydrocolloid dressing containing sodium carboxymethylcellulose, gelatin, and pectin, combined with a polyurethane outer layer. It is designed as a moisture-retentive dressing for wounds that produce exudate.

This product is sold as an advanced wound-care dressing, commonly used under the guidance of a doctor, nurse, or pharmacist for chronic or slow-healing wounds such as pressure areas or leg ulcers. It is supplied in a 4-inch by 4-inch (10cm x 10cm) size and is latex-free.

Directions for Use

Clean and dry the surrounding skin as directed by a healthcare professional before application. Select a dressing size that extends at least 2-3cm beyond the edges of the wound, peel off the backing, and apply the adhesive side over the wound, smoothing down the edges. Wound assessment and dressing changes should follow guidance from a doctor, nurse, or wound-care professional.

Dosage

This is a wound-care dressing, not a medicine taken by dose. Use one dressing per wound, and change according to the level of exudate and the specific guidance of the supervising healthcare professional, which is often every few days rather than daily.

Storage Instructions

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat, in the original sealed pouch until ready to use.

Side Effects

  • Common: Mild skin redness or maceration around the dressing edges.
  • Common: A change in wound odour or a yellow-brown gel appearance under the dressing, which is an expected part of how this type of dressing interacts with wound fluid rather than necessarily a sign of infection.
  • Serious: Signs of true wound infection, such as increasing pain, spreading redness, warmth, swelling, fever, or pus, which need prompt medical attention.

Contraindications

  • Do not use on wounds with active, uncontrolled infection unless directed by a healthcare professional.
  • Do not use on third-degree burns or on wounds exposing bone, tendon, or muscle without medical supervision.
  • Do not use if there is a known allergy to any component of the dressing.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No clinically significant food interactions are known for this dressing.
  • Discuss use of this dressing with a healthcare professional if the wound is also being treated with topical medicines, as combining products may affect adhesion or wound healing progress.

Quick Tips

  • Have a doctor, nurse, or pharmacist assess the wound before starting or continuing use of this dressing.
  • Choose a dressing size with enough margin around the wound edge for secure adhesion.
  • Avoid stretching the dressing tightly across joints, as this can cause it to lift.
  • Keep a record of dressing-change dates to track healing progress with your healthcare provider.
  • Store spare dressings in their original sealed pouches until needed.

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Hydrocolloid components: sodium carboxymethylcellulose, gelatin, and pectin.
  • Polyurethane outer film layer.
  • Latex-free construction.

Relevant Information

Precautions: This is a professional-grade wound dressing that is generally used as part of a wound-care plan supervised by a doctor, nurse, or wound-care specialist, particularly for pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, or other chronic wounds. It should not be used as a substitute for medical assessment of a non-healing or worsening wound.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Seek medical advice before first use if the wound has not been formally assessed, and promptly if the wound shows signs of worsening, spreading infection, fever, or if healing does not progress as expected.
