DuraSafe Gamgee Roll (20cmx7m) is a padding roll made from a thick layer of 100% purified absorbent cotton wool enclosed in a soft, non-woven gauze covering, giving it a soft, cushioned texture. As a padding material rather than a medicine, it is classified as a general first-aid and medical supply item, sold over the counter for use both at home and in clinical settings.

Each roll measures 20cm in width by 7m in length, giving enough material to cut multiple padding pieces from a single roll. DuraSafe Gamgee Roll is dermatologically tested, halal-certified, and suitable for most skin types, making it a practical addition to a home or clinic first-aid kit alongside crepe bandages and adhesive tape.

DuraSafe Gamgee Roll functions through physical absorption and cushioning rather than any active ingredient. The inner cotton wool layer has a large surface area that draws in and holds moisture away from the surface it touches. The outer non-woven gauze layer holds the cotton wool together so it does not shed loose fibres, while still allowing air to pass through the material.

Because the padding is soft and compressible, it spreads pressure out evenly when placed under a splint, plaster cast, or compression bandage. It has no adhesive of its own, so it relies on an outer bandage or tape to hold it in place.

Wash and dry your hands before handling the roll. Unroll and cut the required length of DuraSafe Gamgee Roll using clean scissors, sizing the piece to comfortably cover the wound, pressure area, or the area to be splinted. Do not place the padding directly onto an open or bleeding wound without an appropriate primary wound dressing underneath, as Gamgee roll is a padding material rather than a sterile primary dressing.

Position the padding over the dressing or area to be protected, then secure it in place with a crepe bandage, adhesive tape, or plaster cast material, as it has no adhesive of its own. Check the padding and the skin underneath regularly, and replace the padding if it becomes wet, soiled, or displaced.
