Overview

Enteca (Entecavir) 0.5mg Tablet is a prescription-only medicine (POM) presented as a tablet, with Entecavir 0.5mg as its active ingredient content.

This page is limited to product, safety and handling information, in line with Malaysian rules on prescription medicine information for the public. Your prescriber or pharmacist is the right source for anything beyond that, together with the leaflet inside the pack.

Through DoctorOnCall, this product is supplied after an online consultation with a licensed doctor and a valid prescription, and it is checked by a registered pharmacist before dispensing. Take it exactly as prescribed, and speak to your doctor before stopping, changing the dose, or starting any other medicine alongside it.

Directions for Use

Take Enteca (Entecavir) 0.5mg Tablet on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours after a meal and at least 2 hours before your next meal, as food reduces the absorption of entecavir. Take it at the same time each day. Do not stop taking this medicine without your doctor’s guidance, even if you feel well, as hepatitis B can flare up or worsen severely if treatment is stopped suddenly.

Dosage

The usual dose of Enteca (Entecavir) 0.5mg Tablet is one 0.5mg tablet once daily; a higher dose may be used in certain patients, such as those previously treated with another antiviral (e.g. lamivudine), as determined by your doctor. Treatment is typically long-term, and your doctor will decide the appropriate duration based on your viral load and liver test results.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Food significantly reduces absorption of entecavir – always take on an empty stomach as directed
  • Other medicines that affect kidney function or that are cleared by the kidneys may alter entecavir levels – tell your doctor about all medicines you take
  • Other antivirals used for HIV or hepatitis need a complete medicine review by your doctor to check for interactions and appropriate HIV testing before starting
  • Alcohol should be avoided or limited, as it can add further strain to the liver
