Exforge HCT 10/160/25mg Tablet

Exforge HCT 10/160/25mg Tablet is a triple fixed-dose combination containing amlodipine 10mg (a calcium channel blocker), valsartan 160mg (an angiotensin II receptor blocker), and hydrochlorothiazide 25mg (a thiazide diuretic). It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on two of these components, or as a substitute in patients already stable on the three medicines taken separately.

The three ingredients lower blood pressure through complementary mechanisms: amlodipine relaxes blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle, valsartan blocks the blood-vessel-narrowing hormone angiotensin II, and hydrochlorothiazide increases the excretion of salt and water by the kidneys, reducing blood volume.

Amlodipine inhibits calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle cells, causing vasodilation. Valsartan blocks angiotensin II from binding to the AT1 receptor, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone release. Hydrochlorothiazide acts on the distal renal tubule to reduce sodium and chloride reabsorption, increasing urine output and reducing circulating fluid volume. Together these three actions produce a greater blood-pressure reduction than any single component alone.

Take Exforge HCT 10/160/25mg Tablet at about the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew it. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if you feel well, as blood pressure control requires continuous use.

Exforge HCT 10/160/25mg Tablet is usually taken once daily. Your doctor will determine whether this specific strength combination is appropriate for you based on your blood pressure response to lower-dose combinations or individual components, and will adjust treatment as needed.

Use this product before the expiry date stated on the packaging. Do not use the medicine if the expiry date has passed.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

• Known hypersensitivity to amlodipine, valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, other sulfonamide-derived drugs, or any ingredient in this product
• Pregnancy (can cause harm to the developing baby, especially in the second and third trimester)
• Severe liver impairment, biliary obstruction, or anuria
• Concomitant use with aliskiren in patients with diabetes or kidney impairment
• Severe, uncorrected low blood sodium or potassium levels

• NSAIDs (e.g. ibuprofen) may reduce the blood-pressure-lowering effect and affect kidney function
• Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics may increase the risk of high blood potassium
• Lithium levels may increase when combined with this product
• Alcohol, barbiturates, or narcotics may increase the risk of low blood pressure on standing

• Take at the same time each day to build a consistent routine
• Monitor your blood pressure and periodic blood tests (electrolytes, kidney function) as advised by your doctor
• Rise slowly from sitting or lying down to reduce dizziness
• Limit prolonged sun exposure and use sun protection, as thiazide diuretics can increase photosensitivity
