Finaintas 5mg Tablet

Finaintas 5mg Tablet contains finasteride 5mg, a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland that can cause difficulty urinating. It is used to improve urinary symptoms, reduce the risk of acute urinary retention, and lower the likelihood of needing prostate surgery.

Finasteride works by blocking the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which normally converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the hormone mainly responsible for prostate tissue growth. By lowering DHT levels, finasteride gradually shrinks the enlarged prostate over several months.

Finasteride selectively inhibits type II 5-alpha reductase, the enzyme that converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the prostate. Since DHT drives prostate tissue growth, lowering its level reduces prostate volume and eases the pressure on the urethra that causes urinary symptoms.

Take Finaintas 5mg Tablet at about the same time every day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or split the tablet if you are a woman who is or may become pregnant, as finasteride can be absorbed through the skin. Continue treatment as prescribed even if you do not notice an immediate change in your symptoms.

The usual dose of Finaintas 5mg Tablet for BPH is one tablet (5mg) taken once daily. Your doctor will confirm the right dose and duration for your condition; noticeable improvement in urinary symptoms usually takes several weeks to months of continuous treatment, and it may take up to six to twelve months to see the full effect on prostate size.

Use this product before the expiry date stated on the packaging. Do not use the medicine if the expiry date has passed.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

• Known hypersensitivity to finasteride or any ingredient in this product
• Women who are or may become pregnant must not handle crushed or broken tablets, as skin contact may harm a male foetus
• Not indicated for use in women or children
• Significant liver impairment (use with caution and medical supervision)

• Finasteride lowers blood PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels by about half, so always tell your doctor you are taking it before a PSA test for prostate cancer screening
• Can be taken with or without food, as absorption is not significantly affected by meals
• No clinically significant interactions with common cardiovascular or diabetes medicines have been established, but always disclose all medicines to your doctor
• Avoid combining with other 5-alpha reductase inhibitors unless directed by your doctor

• Always tell your doctor you are taking this medicine before having a PSA blood test
• Improvement in urinary symptoms takes weeks to months – do not stop early because results feel slow
• Sexual side effects such as reduced libido are usually reversible after stopping treatment, but discuss any changes with your doctor
• Report any new mood changes or low mood to your doctor, as rare mood-related side effects have been reported
• Avoid donating blood while on treatment and for one month after your last dose, as your blood should not be given to a pregnant woman
• Do not let women who are or may become pregnant handle broken or crushed tablets
