Overview

Flurocomb Cream contains Clotrimazole 1% w/w and is presented as a cream. It is supplied in a pack size of 15g.

It is classified as a non-prescription medicine, so no prescription is needed to order it. Under Malaysian rules for medicine information, this page carries product, safety and handling information only.

You can consult a doctor or pharmacist online on DoctorOnCall about this product before or after you order. Every order is checked by a registered pharmacist before it is delivered. Always read the label and the leaflet supplied with the pack.

Directions for Use

Clean and dry the affected area of skin before applying Flurocomb Cream. Apply a thin layer of the cream to the infected area and the immediately surrounding skin 2 to 3 times a day, or as advised by a pharmacist, and gently rub it in until absorbed. Wash your hands before and after application unless the hands are the area being treated, and continue treatment for the recommended duration even after visible symptoms have resolved to help prevent recurrence.

Dosage

For adults and children, a thin layer of Flurocomb Cream is usually applied to the affected skin 2 to 3 times daily for 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the site and severity of the infection. If there is no improvement after 2 weeks of use, or if the infection appears to be worsening, stop use and seek advice from a doctor or pharmacist rather than continuing self-treatment.

Shelf Life

Flurocomb Cream is generally stable for up to 24 to 36 months from the date of manufacture when unopened and stored correctly. Always check the expiry date printed on the tube and carton before use, and discard the product once opened for longer than the period stated by the manufacturer.

Storage Instructions

Store Flurocomb Cream at room temperature, below 30 degrees Celsius, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Keep the tube tightly closed after each use, and keep out of reach of children and pets.

Side Effects

  • Mild skin irritation
  • Redness or itching at the application site
  • Burning or stinging sensation
  • Peeling or blistering of the skin
  • Unusual vaginal discharge (with vaginal formulations)

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or any other ingredient in the cream
  • Not for use in or near the eyes
  • Not for use on mucous membranes unless a product specifically formulated for that use is intended
  • Not recommended for use inside the ear if the eardrum is perforated

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No clinically significant food interactions are known with topical use
  • Avoid applying other topical products to the same area at the same time unless advised by a pharmacist
  • Inform your pharmacist if you are using other topical steroids or antifungals on the same skin area
  • Systemic drug interactions are unlikely with correct topical use, as absorption into the bloodstream is minimal

Quick Tips

  • Apply only a thin layer; using more cream does not speed up healing
  • Keep the affected area clean and dry, and wear breathable, loose-fitting clothing where possible
  • Continue treatment for the full recommended duration even after symptoms clear to reduce the chance of recurrence
  • Avoid sharing towels or personal items while the infection is active to prevent spreading it to others
  • Seek medical advice if symptoms do not improve within 2 weeks

Relevant Information

Flurocomb Cream is intended for short-term treatment of localised fungal skin infections and is not effective against bacterial or viral skin conditions. Fungal infections can be prone to recurrence, particularly in warm, humid climates such as Malaysia, so keeping the skin clean and dry and completing the full treatment course is important even after symptoms improve. If infections recur frequently, affect the nails, or cover a large area of the body, a doctor should be consulted to rule out an underlying condition or consider alternative treatment.
