Hydrocyn Aqua Wound Care & Irrigation Solution (Spray Mist)

Hydrocyn Aqua Wound Care & Irrigation Solution (Spray Mist) is a non-antibiotic, hypochlorous-acid (HOCl) based solution made through electrolysis of purified water and salt, using the same electrolyzed-oxidizing-water technology as related Hydrocyn/Dermacyn products. It is formulated as a broad-spectrum topical solution and does not function as an antibiotic drug.

This product is available over the counter in Malaysia without a prescription. It is free from alcohol, steroids, and harsh antiseptics, and is pH-neutral. It is typically supplied as a 250ml or 500ml spray/irrigation bottle, intended purely for external use rather than internal or systemic use.

The solution’s hypochlorous acid content mirrors the body’s own natural immune response, in which white blood cells produce HOCl as part of their normal function. When poured or sprayed onto a surface, it oxidises and disrupts the outer membranes and proteins of a broad range of microorganisms.

Because this is an oxidative, physical antimicrobial action rather than a drug-based antibiotic mechanism, it does not carry the same risk of contributing to antibiotic resistance, and it is formulated to be gentle on healthy tissue.

Open the cap and pour the solution directly over the wound area, or soak a sterile gauze with the solution and use it to gently clean the affected area. There is no need to rinse the solution off afterwards. Allow the area to air-dry or cover with a sterile dressing as needed. Repeat two to three times daily, or as recommended by a healthcare provider, particularly for post-surgical wounds and diabetic ulcers that need regular cleaning.

Not applicable in the conventional medicine sense — this product is for external wound irrigation and cleansing only, and must not be swallowed or used internally beyond topical wound application. As a general guide, use to irrigate or spray the wound area two to three times daily, or as directed by a doctor, pharmacist, or wound care professional.

Use this product before the expiry date printed on the bottle and outer packaging. Do not use if the expiry date has passed, or if the solution looks discoloured, cloudy, or has an unusual smell.

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and heat, and keep out of the reach of children. Keep the bottle cap tightly closed between uses. For optimal effectiveness, use within 30 days after opening if stored properly, and discard any remaining solution after this period even if the bottle is not empty, as the product’s effectiveness cannot be assured beyond this in-use window.

• Common: Mild, temporary redness at the site of application.
• Common: Slight tingling sensation or dryness of the surrounding skin.
• Serious: Signs of an allergic reaction such as significant swelling, spreading rash, or blistering — stop use immediately and seek medical attention if these occur.

• Known hypersensitivity or allergy to hypochlorous acid or any other ingredient in the solution.
• Not intended to replace proper medical assessment and treatment of deep, heavily bleeding, infected, or non-healing wounds, including worsening diabetic ulcers.
• Avoid contact with the eyes; if accidental exposure occurs, rinse thoroughly with clean water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.

• No clinically significant drug or food interactions are known for this solution when used externally for wound irrigation and cleansing as directed.
• It can generally be used alongside other wound dressings and post-surgical care products, but different topical products should not be combined on the same wound without guidance from a pharmacist or doctor.
• Inform your healthcare provider of any other treatments being used on the same wound, especially for post-surgical wounds or diabetic ulcers under active medical management, so that care can be properly coordinated.

• Use a fresh piece of sterile gauze each time you soak it with solution, rather than reusing gauze.
• No rinsing is required after use — simply let the area air-dry or cover with a dressing.
• Once opened, use the bottle within about 30 days, and note the date you opened it.
• Keep the bottle tightly capped between uses and avoid touching the nozzle or opening directly to the skin.
• Follow any specific cleaning schedule given by your surgeon or care team, in addition to the general guidance here.
• Speak with a doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure whether this product is appropriate for a particular wound.

Precautions: This product is not a substitute for surgical wound care or medical management of chronic conditions such as diabetes. Pregnant or breastfeeding women, children, and elderly users should check with a pharmacist or doctor first if unsure, particularly for larger wounds or post-surgical sites. Avoid contact with the eyes and deep body cavities unless specifically directed by a healthcare professional.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Seek medical attention if a wound is deep, large, actively bleeding, shows signs of infection (increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pus, or fever), is not improving after several days, or if a post-surgical wound or diabetic ulcer appears to be getting worse.
