Medishield Self Adhesive Plaster (1.25cm x 5m)

Medishield Self Adhesive Plaster (1.25cm x 5m) is a self-adherent (cohesive) bandage roll made from a soft, elastic, breathable non-woven fabric that has been treated to stick to itself rather than to skin or hair, without the need for pins, clips, or additional adhesive tape. As a general first-aid device rather than a medicine, it is sold over the counter for everyday home, sports, and travel first-aid use.

This 1.25cm x 5m roll is sized for smaller areas such as the fingers or toes, or securing smaller dressings. It is latex-free, hypoallergenic, and water-resistant, and can be torn by hand to the required length without scissors, making it convenient for quick first-aid use alongside wound-care padding and support bandages.

Unlike a traditional adhesive plaster, Medishield Self Adhesive Plaster does not use skin-contact glue. Instead, its non-woven fabric fibres are coated so that the material bonds to itself once it is stretched slightly and wrapped over itself, holding the wrap firmly in place while leaving the skin underneath free of adhesive residue.

As it is applied, the elastic fabric also exerts gentle, even pressure, similar in principle to a compression bandage but without relying on skin adhesion.

Clean and dry the area, and apply any required primary dressing or gauze to the wound first. Hold the end of the Medishield Self Adhesive Plaster roll against the dressing and wrap it around the area, overlapping each turn by about half the width of the roll and stretching it only slightly as you go, so the wrap presses firmly but comfortably.

Press the final few centimetres of the roll onto the layer beneath to seal it in place — no clips, pins, or tape are needed, as the material adheres to itself. Tear the roll by hand once you reach the end, and check the wrapped area regularly for signs of the wrap being too tight, such as numbness, tingling, or colour change.

Medishield Self Adhesive Plaster does not contain a medicinal ingredient, so it does not have a medicine-style expiry; use the product before the expiry or best-before date printed on the packaging, where one is provided, and discard the roll if the material has become brittle, discoloured, or has lost its ability to stick to itself.

Store in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat or humidity, which can affect the material’s self-adhesive properties over time. Reseal the packaging after use where possible.

• Common: Mild, temporary skin redness, warmth, or itchiness in the area under or around the wrap, particularly with prolonged wear or in people with sensitive skin.
• Serious: Signs of an allergic skin reaction, such as significant rash, blistering, swelling, or persistent itching, which would need the wrap to be removed and medical advice sought.

• Do not use if you have a known allergy or sensitivity to adhesive bandage or tape materials, or if you have previously reacted to similar cohesive wraps.
• Do not wrap the material too tightly, as this can restrict blood circulation and cause numbness, tingling, or skin discolouration.
• Avoid applying directly over broken skin, open wounds, or skin infections without a suitable primary dressing underneath.
• Discontinue use and seek advice if you develop increasing redness, swelling, blistering, or discomfort under the wrap.

Remove promptly if any skin irritation, rash, or discomfort develops.
