Overview

Mycofit 500mg Tablet is a prescription-only medicine (POM) presented as a tablet, with Mycophenolate mofetil 500mg as its active ingredient content.

This page is limited to product, safety and handling information, in line with Malaysian rules on prescription medicine information for the public. Your prescriber or pharmacist is the right source for anything beyond that, together with the leaflet inside the pack.

Through DoctorOnCall, this product is supplied after an online consultation with a licensed doctor and a valid prescription, and it is checked by a registered pharmacist before dispensing. Take it exactly as prescribed, and speak to your doctor before stopping, changing the dose, or starting any other medicine alongside it.

Directions for Use

Take Mycofit 500mg Tablet on an empty stomach where possible, at the same times each day as instructed by your transplant team, with a full glass of water. Swallow the tablet whole – do not crush, chew, or open it, and avoid direct skin or eye contact with the powder inside, as it can be irritating.

Dosage

The dose of Mycofit 500mg Tablet is individualised by your transplant specialist based on your transplant protocol, blood test results, and tolerability, and is taken as part of a combination immunosuppressive regimen. Never change your dose or stop this medicine without your transplant team’s explicit instruction, as under-immunosuppression can risk organ rejection.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

Side Effects

  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • High blood pressure
  • Increased risk of infections
  • Dizziness
  • Stomach pain
  • Anemia or low white blood cell count

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to mycophenolate mofetil, mycophenolic acid, or any ingredient in this product
  • Pregnancy – mycophenolate causes an increased risk of miscarriage and birth defects, and effective contraception is required before, during, and after treatment as advised by your doctor
  • Breastfeeding
  • Should not be used interchangeably with mycophenolate sodium-containing products (e.g. Myfortic) without your transplant physician’s specific guidance, as the formulations differ and are not simply dose-equivalent

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Azathioprine should not be combined with mycophenolate mofetil, as both suppress the bone marrow and combining them increases toxicity
  • Antacids containing aluminium or magnesium, and cholestyramine, can reduce the absorption of mycophenolate mofetil – these should be spaced apart or avoided as advised by your doctor
  • Live vaccines should be avoided during treatment due to the weakened immune response
  • Other immunosuppressants (e.g. cyclosporine, tacrolimus) are used in combination under close specialist supervision, with blood levels monitored regularly

Quick Tips

  • Never stop or change this medicine without your transplant team’s explicit instruction
  • Attend all scheduled blood tests to monitor your blood counts and kidney function
  • Report fever, sore throat, or any signs of infection to your transplant team immediately
  • Use effective contraception as advised, given the risk to pregnancy
  • Do not substitute this medicine with a mycophenolate sodium product without your doctor’s specific guidance
