Nasonex 0.05% Aqueous Nasal Spray

Nasonex 0.05% Aqueous Nasal Spray contains Mometasone Furoate 0.05% (50 micrograms per spray) and is presented as a nasal spray. It is supplied in pack sizes of 140 doses and 60 doses.

Nasonex should only be used under the direction of a doctor, following an online consultation and prescription through DoctorOnCall. Before first use, the spray pump should be primed by shaking the bottle and pressing it several times until a fine, even mist is produced. The head should be tilted slightly forward, the nozzle inserted into one nostril while closing off the other, and the spray released while gently breathing in through the nose; the process is then repeated for the other nostril, avoiding direct contact with the nasal septum. Hands and the nozzle tip should be washed after each use.

The typical adult dose for allergic rhinitis is two sprays into each nostril once daily, which may be reduced to one spray per nostril once symptoms are controlled; a doctor may prescribe a different regimen for children or for other indications such as nasal polyps. Nasonex should be used regularly for the best effect, as it may take a few days of consistent use to reach full benefit, and it should not be used more often or for longer than prescribed without medical advice.

Nasonex Aqueous Nasal Spray is generally stable for up to the expiry date printed on the packaging when unopened and stored correctly; once opened, it should be used within the period stated on the carton or label, and the expiry date should always be checked before each use.

Store the bottle upright at room temperature, below 25°C, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture, and keep it out of reach of children. Do not freeze the spray, and discard it if the solution appears discoloured, if the pump becomes blocked, or after the labelled expiry date.

• Known hypersensitivity to mometasone furoate or any ingredient in the formulation
• Untreated localised nasal infection, including fungal, bacterial, or viral infections of the nose
• Recent nasal surgery or nasal trauma until healing is confirmed by a doctor
• Active untreated tuberculosis of the respiratory tract
• Use with caution in patients on long-term treatment due to potential effects on growth in children or on adrenal function with prolonged high-dose use

• Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (such as ritonavir or ketoconazole) may increase systemic exposure to mometasone if used concurrently
• Other intranasal or inhaled corticosteroids may increase the overall corticosteroid load on the body if used together without medical guidance
• Inform your doctor of all other nasal sprays, inhalers, or steroid-containing medicines you are using
• No significant food interactions are established, but consistent use as prescribed is important for effectiveness

• Use Nasonex at the same time each day to build consistent symptom control
• Shake the bottle gently before each use
• Point the spray away from the centre of the nose (nasal septum) to reduce irritation and nosebleed risk
