Overview

Pharmaniaga Dermasole Cream is supplied as a cream, with Betamethasone (topical corticosteroid), at the strength stated on the product label. It is supplied in a pack size of 15g.

No prescription is required for this product, as it is a non-prescription medicine. This page is limited to product, safety and handling information.

If you would like guidance before buying, you can speak to a doctor or pharmacist through an online consultation on DoctorOnCall. Orders are dispensed by a registered pharmacist and delivered to your address.

Directions for Use

Apply Pharmaniaga Dermasole Cream as a thin layer to the affected skin area only, exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily. Gently rub the cream in until it disappears, wash your hands after application (unless the hands are the treated area), and avoid applying it to broken skin, the eyes, or mucous membranes unless specifically directed. Do not use it under airtight dressings or bandages unless your doctor has told you to, as this increases absorption and the risk of side effects. Do not use for longer than the prescribed duration, even if your skin looks improved.

Dosage

The amount, frequency, and duration of use of Pharmaniaga Dermasole Cream will be determined by your doctor based on the specific skin condition, its severity, and the body area affected, and should never be self-adjusted or continued beyond the prescribed period. Treatment courses with potent topical steroids like betamethasone are typically kept short, and your doctor may advise a step-down to a milder steroid or a treatment break once the condition improves. If you miss an application, apply it as soon as you remember and continue with your normal schedule; do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose.

Storage Instructions

Store Pharmaniaga Dermasole Cream below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, and keep the tube tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Side Effects

  • Skin thinning (when used topically)
  • Irritation or burning at application site
  • Increased appetite and weight gain
  • Mood changes or difficulty sleeping
  • Elevated blood sugar levels
  • Stomach upset or bloating
  • Delayed wound healing
  • Increased risk of infections

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to betamethasone or any ingredient in the cream.
  • Untreated bacterial, viral, or fungal skin infections at the application site (unless combined with appropriate anti-infective treatment as directed by a doctor).
  • Acne, rosacea, or perioral dermatitis, which can be worsened by topical corticosteroids.
  • Broken skin, open wounds, or ulcers, unless specifically directed by a doctor.
  • Use on the face, groin, or armpits for prolonged periods without medical supervision, due to thinner skin in these areas.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Using other topical corticosteroid products at the same time can increase the total steroid exposure and the risk of skin thinning — avoid combining without medical advice.
  • Applying occlusive dressings, tight clothing, or bandages over treated skin increases absorption and the risk of side effects.
  • Concurrent use of other skin products (retinoids, exfoliants, strong cleansers) on the same area may increase skin irritation.

Quick Tips

  • Apply only a thin layer to the affected area — more cream does not work faster or better.
  • Use exactly for the duration your doctor prescribes, even if the skin looks better sooner.
  • Avoid the face, groin, and skin folds unless your doctor has specifically prescribed it for these areas.
  • Do not cover the treated area with airtight dressings unless instructed.
  • Wash your hands after applying, unless your hands are the area being treated.
  • Tell your doctor if the treated skin does not improve or looks infected.

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Active ingredient: Betamethasone (topical corticosteroid), at the strength stated on the product label.
  • Formulated as a topical cream base for application to the skin.
  • Manufactured by Pharmaniaga Berhad.
  • Full list of inactive ingredients and exact concentration is available on the product package insert.

Relevant Information

Precautions: Use with caution in children, on the face, or in skin folds, as these areas absorb more of the steroid and are more prone to thinning. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding should only be under a doctor’s guidance, and treatment courses should be as short as possible while still effective.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: See a doctor if your skin condition does not improve after the prescribed course, if the treated skin looks infected (increasing redness, warmth, pus, or fever), or if you notice thinning skin, stretch marks, or other changes at the application site. Contact DoctorOnCall’s pharmacist team if you have questions about how long to use this cream or how to step down treatment.
