Regulon Tablet

Regulon Tablet is a combined oral contraceptive pill containing desogestrel and ethinylestradiol, two synthetic hormones that work together to prevent pregnancy. Regulon Tablet is generally stable for up to 3 years from the date of manufacture when the blister strip remains unopened and is stored correctly, so always check the expiry date printed on the packaging before starting each new strip.

Store Regulon Tablet below 30°C in a dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture, and always keep it out of the sight and reach of children.

• Known or suspected pregnancy
• Current or past history of blood clots such as deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, or a history of stroke
• History of breast cancer or other oestrogen-sensitive cancers
• Severe liver disease or liver tumours
• Migraine with aura
• Uncontrolled high blood pressure
• Smokers aged over 35 years
• Undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding

• Enzyme-inducing medicines such as rifampicin and certain anticonvulsants (for example carbamazepine or phenytoin) may reduce contraceptive effectiveness
• St John’s Wort, a herbal supplement, can lower hormone levels and reduce protection against pregnancy
• Some antibiotics may affect efficacy in individual cases, so always inform your doctor of all medicines you are taking
• Other hormonal medicines should only be combined with Regulon Tablet under medical supervision

• Take Regulon Tablet at the same time every day to keep hormone levels steady
• If you miss a tablet, check the missed-pill instructions in the package leaflet or contact your pharmacist or doctor promptly
• Use condoms as a backup method during the first 7 days of a new pack if you started mid-cycle
• Regulon Tablet does not protect against sexually transmitted infections
