Sunward Polarine Tablet

Sunward Polarine Tablet contains chlorpheniramine maleate, a first-generation antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, a runny or itchy nose, itchy and watery eyes, and itchy skin caused by conditions like allergic rhinitis, hives (urticaria), and other mild allergic reactions. It may also be found in some cold and flu combination products because of its drying effect on nasal secretions.

Chlorpheniramine works by blocking histamine, the substance the body releases during an allergic reaction, and is well known for its sedating effect compared with newer, low-sedation antihistamines. This is a non-prescription (OTC) tablet available at DoctorOnCall for adults and children within the age range stated on the product label.

Chlorpheniramine blocks histamine H1-receptors throughout the body, which reduces the sneezing, itching, and nasal or eye discharge triggered by an allergic reaction. Because it also crosses into the brain more readily than newer antihistamines, it commonly produces a noticeable sedative effect alongside its antihistaminic action.

Take the tablet by mouth with a glass of water, with or without food, following the dosing schedule on the product label or as advised by a doctor or pharmacist. Avoid taking it too close to activities that require alertness, such as driving, due to its sedating effect.

The usual adult dose is one tablet taken every 4 to 6 hours as needed, without exceeding the maximum daily dose stated on the label. • Known hypersensitivity to chlorpheniramine or any other ingredient in the tablet
• Narrow-angle glaucoma
• Severe urinary retention or bladder outflow obstruction, such as from prostate enlargement
• Use during an acute asthma attack
• Newborns or premature infants
• Concurrent use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping one

• Other sedating antihistamines, sleeping tablets, or sedatives, which can increase drowsiness
• Alcohol, which can intensify the sedative effect
• Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), which can prolong and intensify anticholinergic effects
• Other anticholinergic medicines, which may add to dry mouth, blurred vision, or urinary retention
• Central nervous system depressants such as certain anxiety, pain, or sleep medications

• Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this tablet affects you, as it commonly causes drowsiness
• Take the dose at a time when sedation will not interfere with work, study, or childcare responsibilities
• Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine
• Do not combine with other cough, cold, or allergy products without checking with a pharmacist to avoid duplicate antihistamine dosing
• See a doctor if allergy symptoms persist beyond a few weeks or if a severe allergic reaction occurs
