Overview

Timo-Comod 0.5% Eye Drop contains timolol maleate 0.5%, a non-selective beta-blocker eye drop used to lower elevated intraocular pressure in open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. This preservative-free formulation, delivered via the COMOD multi-dose system, is suitable for patients with sensitive eyes or preservative intolerance. It is also sometimes used to manage certain other conditions of elevated eye pressure as directed by an eye specialist.

Timolol works by reducing the production of aqueous humour (the fluid inside the eye) by the ciliary body, which lowers intraocular pressure and helps protect the optic nerve from damage caused by sustained high eye pressure.

How it Works

By blocking beta-adrenergic receptors in the ciliary body of the eye, timolol reduces the rate at which aqueous humour is produced, lowering the overall volume of fluid inside the eye and thereby reducing intraocular pressure.

Directions for Use

Wash your hands before use. Tilt your head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a small pocket, and instil one drop without letting the dropper tip touch the eye or any surface. Press gently on the inner corner of the eye for about one to two minutes after instillation to reduce systemic absorption, which lowers the risk of effects on the heart and lungs. If using other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes between different products.

Dosage

The usual dose is one drop in the affected eye(s), once or twice daily depending on the specific formulation prescribed. Your doctor will confirm the exact dosing frequency and which eye(s) to treat.

Shelf Life

Use this product before the expiry date stated on the packaging. Do not use the medicine if the expiry date has passed.
