Overview

Tritace 2.5mg Tablet contains ramipril 2.5mg, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), to manage heart failure, to improve survival after a heart attack, and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in people at high risk (such as those with established atherosclerotic disease or diabetes with an additional risk factor). It is also used to slow the progression of kidney disease in some patients.

Ramipril works by blocking the enzyme that converts angiotensin I into angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels and raises blood pressure. By reducing angiotensin II production, ramipril allows blood vessels to relax and widen, lowering blood pressure and reducing the heart’s workload.

How it Works

Ramipril inhibits ACE, preventing the conversion of angiotensin I to the potent vasoconstrictor angiotensin II and reducing aldosterone secretion. This relaxes blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, reduces sodium and water retention, and eases the workload on the heart.

Directions for Use

Take Tritace 2.5mg Tablet at about the same time every day, with or without food, and swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. The first dose can occasionally cause a more pronounced drop in blood pressure, so take it when you are able to sit or lie down afterwards if this is your first time. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.

Dosage

The usual starting dose of Tritace 2.5mg Tablet is 1.25-2.5mg once daily, which your doctor may gradually increase based on your blood pressure response and the condition being treated, up to a maximum of 10mg daily. Dosing after a heart attack or for kidney protection is individualised and started cautiously. Always take exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
