Overview

Valcyte 450mg tablet is a prescription-only medicine (POM) that contains Valganciclovir 450mg (as valganciclovir hydrochloride). It is supplied as a tablet and is dispensed in Malaysia only against a valid prescription issued by a registered doctor.

Under Malaysian rules for prescription medicines, this page carries product, safety and handling information only. Your doctor or pharmacist will explain whether this medicine is suitable for you, the dose you should take, and how long you should take it.

On DoctorOnCall, Valcyte 450mg tablet is reviewed by a licensed doctor through an online consultation and dispensed by a registered pharmacist before delivery. Always follow the instructions on your prescription label and the package insert supplied with the product, and do not share this medicine with anyone else.

Directions for Use

Take with food to improve absorption; swallow the tablet whole and do not crush, break, or chew it, as the tablet is coated to protect against direct handling of the drug. Caregivers should avoid direct contact with broken or crushed tablets.

Dosage

Dosing is individualised by a specialist doctor based on the indication (treatment or prevention), body weight, and kidney function, since the dose must be reduced in patients with impaired kidney function – never adjust the dose yourself.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

  • Mycophenolate or ciclosporin used after transplant: may require closer monitoring of kidney function and blood counts.
  • Inform your doctor of all medicines you are taking, especially other immunosuppressants.

Quick Tips

  • This medicine requires regular blood tests to monitor your white blood cell, platelet, and red blood cell counts throughout treatment – do not miss these appointments.
