Overview
Ventolin 100mcg Evohaler is supplied as a healthcare product, with Salbutamol (as sulfate) 100mcg per actuation. It is supplied in pack sizes of 200 doses and 200 doses x3.
No prescription is required for this product, as it is a non-prescription medicine. This page is limited to product, safety and handling information.
If you would like guidance before buying, you can speak to a doctor or pharmacist through an online consultation on DoctorOnCall. Orders are dispensed by a registered pharmacist and delivered to your address.
Directions for Use
Shake the inhaler well before each use, breathe out gently away from the mouthpiece, then close your lips around the mouthpiece and start to breathe in slowly and deeply while pressing down firmly on the canister to release one dose, continuing to inhale fully. Hold your breath for about 10 seconds before breathing out slowly, and wait around 30 seconds between puffs if more than one is needed; using a spacer device can improve delivery to the lungs, especially for children or those with difficulty coordinating the inhaler.
Dosage
For the relief of an acute asthma or breathing episode, the usual adult and child dose is one to two puffs (100 to 200mcg) as needed, and for prevention of exercise-induced symptoms, one to two puffs about 15 minutes before exercise. It should not be used more often than prescribed or recommended on the label; if you find yourself needing it more than a few times a week outside of exercise use, or your regular reliever use is increasing, speak to a pharmacist or doctor, as this can indicate poorly controlled asthma requiring review of your overall treatment.
Shelf Life
When stored correctly and unopened, Ventolin 100mcg Evohaler is generally stable until the expiry date printed on the canister and carton; the number of doses used should be tracked, as the inhaler may not deliver a full dose once the labelled number of actuations has been reached even if some spray remains.
Storage Instructions
Store below 30°C, away from direct heat, sunlight, and frost, and never puncture, break or burn the canister even when it appears empty, as it remains pressurised. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Side Effects
Shakiness or tremors
Headache
Increased heart rate
Nervousness or restlessness
Muscle cramps
Dry mouth or throat irritation
Contraindications
Known allergy or hypersensitivity to salbutamol or any component of the inhaler
Uncontrolled, severe heart rhythm problems, unless a doctor has assessed and approved its use
Use as a substitute for a prescribed preventer/controller inhaler in persistent asthma, rather than alongside it
Rapidly worsening or severe breathing difficulty that does not improve with the inhaler, which is a medical emergency requiring immediate attention
Drug / Food Interactions
Beta-blocker medicines (such as propranolol): can reduce the bronchodilating effect of salbutamol and worsen airway narrowing
Other stimulant bronchodilators or decongestants: additive risk of tremor, palpitations or nervousness
Diuretics and corticosteroids: may add to the risk of low blood potassium with frequent salbutamol use
Certain antidepressants (MAO inhibitors, tricyclics): may increase cardiovascular side effects when combined with salbutamol
Quick Tips
Always carry your reliever inhaler with you, especially during physical activity or if you have a history of sudden breathing difficulty
Check the dose counter or keep track of actuations so you know when the inhaler is due to run out
Rinse your mouth with water after use if you notice throat irritation
Have your inhaler technique checked periodically by a pharmacist, as incorrect technique reduces the amount of medicine reaching the lungs
Seek urgent medical attention if your breathlessness does not improve after using your inhaler, or if you need it much more often than usual
This medicine should only be used during pregnancy if prescribed by a doctor after careful evaluation.

Relevant Information
Needing to use a salbutamol reliever inhaler like Ventolin 100mcg Evohaler more than two to three times a week, aside from before exercise, often suggests that underlying asthma is not well controlled and that a review of preventer therapy or overall asthma management plan is needed. Anyone experiencing worsening symptoms, night-time waking due to breathing difficulty, or an asthma attack that does not settle with their usual inhaler should seek prompt medical attention rather than relying on repeated doses alone.
