Overview
Voltaren 1% Emulgel contains Diclofenac Diethylamine (equivalent to 1% diclofenac sodium) and is presented as a gel. It is supplied in pack sizes of 20g and 50g.
It is classified as a non-prescription medicine, so no prescription is needed to order it. Under Malaysian rules for medicine information, this page carries product, safety and handling information only.
You can consult a doctor or pharmacist online on DoctorOnCall about this product before or after you order. Every order is checked by a registered pharmacist before it is delivered. Always read the label and the leaflet supplied with the pack.
Directions for Use
Voltaren 1% Emulgel should be applied to clean, dry, unbroken skin over the painful or inflamed area, gently massaging a small amount into the skin until absorbed. Hands should be washed after application (unless the hands are the area being treated), and the gel should not be applied to open wounds, broken skin, the eyes, or mucous membranes.
Dosage
For adults and adolescents 14 years and above, the gel is generally applied 3 to 4 times daily to the affected area, using an amount appropriate to the size of the painful area, based on standard product labelling. If symptoms do not improve within about 7 days, or worsen, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted rather than continuing self-treatment indefinitely.
Shelf Life
Voltaren 1% Emulgel is typically valid for up to 24 to 36 months from the date of manufacture when unopened and stored correctly; once opened, it is generally advisable to use the product within the period stated on the packaging, and the exact expiry date should always be checked on the tube before use.
Storage Instructions
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture, and keep the tube tightly closed after each use. Keep out of reach and sight of children, and discard the gel if it is past its expiry date or shows any change in colour or consistency.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include:
Stomach pain or discomfort
Nausea or vomiting
Indigestion or gas
Headache or dizziness
Skin rash or itching
Swelling in hands or feet
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to diclofenac, other NSAIDs, or any ingredient in the gel
History of asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions triggered by aspirin or other NSAIDs
Application to broken skin, open wounds, infected skin, or eczema
Use during the last trimester of pregnancy without medical advice
Not recommended for children under 14 years unless directed by a doctor
Drug / Food Interactions
Concurrent use with oral NSAIDs may increase the overall risk of NSAID-related side effects and should be discussed with a pharmacist or doctor
Should not be applied under occlusive dressings unless advised, as this can increase systemic absorption
Avoid applying alongside other topical medicated products on the same area without pharmacist advice
Sunscreen or sun avoidance is advisable on treated skin exposed to sunlight to reduce the small risk of photosensitivity
Quick Tips
Apply only to clean, dry, intact skin — avoid open wounds, broken skin, or areas with a rash.
Wash your hands after applying the gel, unless the hands themselves are the area being treated.
Do not use it under an airtight or occlusive dressing unless a pharmacist or doctor advises it, as this increases absorption.
Use sun protection on treated skin exposed to sunlight, since rare photosensitivity reactions can occur.
If you also take oral NSAIDs or painkillers, check with a pharmacist to avoid overlapping NSAID exposure.
See a doctor or pharmacist if pain and swelling do not improve within about 7 days, or if they get worse.
Do not use on children under 14 years without medical advice.
Store the tube tightly closed below 30°C, and discard it if the gel’s colour or texture changes.

Relevant Information
Voltaren 1% Emulgel is a well-established, non-prescription topical NSAID widely used in Malaysia for minor musculoskeletal pain, and a DoctorOnCall pharmacist is available to advise on correct use, especially for people with a history of stomach ulcers, kidney problems, or those taking blood thinners, even though the topical form carries a lower systemic risk than oral NSAIDs. It should only be used on intact skin over a limited area, and medical advice should be sought if pain persists beyond about a week or is accompanied by swelling that does not improve.

Within Malaysia, standard delivery takes 3 to 5 working days. Same-day delivery is available in the Klang Valley for orders placed before 12pm; orders placed after 12pm arrive by the end of the next day.
Orders to Singapore are sent as international deliveries and take 5 to 9 working days. A lump-sum shipping and handling fee applies to every overseas delivery and is shown at checkout.
Customers in Malaysia can pay by FPX online banking, credit or debit card (Visa and Mastercard), and supported e-wallets including Touch ‘n Go eWallet, GrabPay and ShopeePay.
FPX and local e-wallets are tied to Malaysian bank and wallet accounts, so if your delivery address is in Singapore, use the payment options displayed at checkout for that address rather than assuming the same list applies.
Yes. DoctorOnCall ships to Singapore as an international order dispatched from Malaysia, arriving in 5 to 9 working days with a lump-sum shipping and handling fee.
Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA) allows personal imports of up to three months’ supply of a medicine for your own use or an immediate family member’s, as long as it contains no controlled drugs, psychotropic substances or prohibited items. Keep the product in its original labelled packaging and keep a copy of your prescription or doctor’s letter with it. Quantities above three months’ supply, and medicines containing controlled substances, require prior HSA approval.
Products listed on DoctorOnCall are registered with Malaysia’s Ministry of Health for supply in Malaysia, and each pack carries its MAL registration number.
An order delivered to Singapore arrives as a personal import of a Malaysia-registered product; HSA product registration is not required for personal-use quantities, but it is also not the same as a product registered for sale in Singapore. If you need a locally registered Singapore product, buy it from a pharmacy in Singapore.
DoctorOnCall’s customer care team handles order, delivery and product queries through the contact channels on the site, including WhatsApp and the online help centre.
For deliveries to Singapore, allow more time before chasing an order than you would for a local Malaysian delivery, as the parcel passes through customs clearance and tracking updates can appear later in the journey.
