Overview

Windose Syrup is an over-the-counter traditional plant-based preparation supplied in a 100ml bottle, formulated with Andrographolide derived from Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata), providing 50mg per 5ml. Andrographis paniculata is a plant long used in traditional preparations across Asia, and this syrup is one such preparation registered for OTC sale in Malaysia.

As a traditional herbal preparation, it does not require a doctor’s prescription and is intended for adult use, with a healthcare professional’s advice recommended for children. It is presented as a liquid syrup rather than a tablet or capsule format.

Directions for Use

Shake the bottle before use if separation is visible. Take by mouth using the measuring cup or spoon provided, with or after food to reduce the chance of stomach upset. Follow the schedule on the packaging rather than taking extra doses.

Dosage

Adults: 2 teaspoonfuls (10ml) two to three times daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional. Children: consult a healthcare professional for an appropriate dosage before use. If a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless close to the next scheduled dose.

Storage Instructions

Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Close the cap tightly after each use and keep out of reach and sight of children.

Side Effects

  • Common: Nausea.
  • Common: Diarrhoea, which is usually temporary.
  • Serious: Allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, or swelling, which require discontinuation of use and medical review.

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to Andrographis paniculata or any other ingredient in the formulation.
  • Not recommended for children without a healthcare professional’s specific guidance.
  • Not recommended for individuals with autoimmune conditions without medical advice, as Andrographis may affect immune activity.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No widely reported drug interactions have been established for Andrographis paniculata at recommended OTC doses; however, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional if you are taking other regular medicines, particularly blood-thinning or blood-pressure medicines.
  • Combining with other herbal immune-support products containing similar plant extracts may increase total intake; check with a pharmacist before stacking multiple herbal products.
  • No specific food interactions have been reported.

Quick Tips

  • Shake the bottle if the contents look separated before measuring a dose.
  • Use the measuring cup or spoon provided for an accurate dose.
  • Take with or after food if you notice any stomach discomfort.
  • Keep track of how many doses are taken per day.
  • Store away from heat and direct sunlight to protect the formulation.
  • Discontinue and seek advice if a rash or persistent stomach upset develops.
