This is a non-prescription product and can be purchased without a prescription. Only product, safety and handling details are published on this page.

An online consultation with a DoctorOnCall doctor or pharmacist is available for this product, and a registered pharmacist reviews each order before dispatch to Malaysia or Singapore. Follow the directions on the label and on the leaflet inside the pack.

Directions for Use

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Xepamet 200mg can be taken with meals, between meals if symptoms occur, or as directed on the product label. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

Dosage

A common adult regimen is one 200mg tablet up to four times a day with meals and at bedtime, or two 200mg tablets (400mg) taken as a single dose at bedtime, for up to two weeks unless a doctor advises otherwise. If symptoms have not improved after two weeks of regular use, stop and see a doctor. Not recommended for children without medical advice.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct light and moisture. Keep in the original packaging, out of reach and sight of children.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Cimetidine can increase blood levels of warfarin, raising the risk of bleeding
  • May increase blood levels of phenytoin and other anti-epileptic medicines

  • Antacids taken at the same time may reduce cimetidine absorption — space doses apart
  • Smoking may reduce the effectiveness of cimetidine
  • Tell your pharmacist about all other medicines you take, given cimetidine’s higher interaction potential

Relevant Information

Cimetidine is one of the older H2-receptor antagonists and, while effective, has a greater tendency to interact with other medicines than newer options such as famotidine. Seek prompt medical attention if you experience difficulty swallowing, unintentional weight loss, persistent vomiting, vomiting of blood, or black/tarry stools, as these may indicate a more serious underlying condition needing proper investigation rather than self-treatment.
