Zosaar Hct 50/12.5mg Tablet contains losartan potassium, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) combined with hydrochlorothiazide, a low-dose diuretic (“water pill”), used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and to help protect the kidneys in some patients with type 2 diabetes and kidney disease.
Losartan works by blocking angiotensin II, a hormone that normally narrows blood vessels and raises blood pressure. By blocking its receptor, losartan allows blood vessels to relax and widen while the added hydrochlorothiazide helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water, lowering blood pressure.

The added hydrochlorothiazide acts on the kidneys to increase the excretion of salt and water, further lowering blood pressure through a second, complementary mechanism.
Directions for Use
