Sandoz Cetyrol 10mg Tablet

Sandoz Cetyrol 10mg Tablet contains cetirizine, a second-generation antihistamine widely used to relieve the symptoms of allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis (sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy watery eyes) and chronic urticaria (hives), which causes itching and a raised skin rash.

This is an over-the-counter antihistamine that provides once-daily relief from common allergy symptoms and is generally well tolerated, though it may cause slightly more drowsiness in some people compared with certain other newer antihistamines.

Cetirizine works by blocking histamine H1 receptors, which prevents histamine — a chemical released by the body during an allergic reaction — from triggering symptoms such as sneezing, itching, swelling, and redness. This reduces the intensity of allergy symptoms whether they are triggered by pollen, dust, pet dander, or other allergens.

Take one tablet by mouth with a glass of water, with or without food, generally at the same time each day. Since it can occasionally cause mild drowsiness in some people, some choose to take it in the evening, though this is not required for everyone.

The usual dose for adults and children aged 12 years and above is one 10mg tablet once daily. Do not exceed the recommended dose, as doing so will not improve symptom relief and increases the chance of drowsiness and other side effects.

Unopened and stored correctly, Sandoz Cetyrol 10mg Tablet is generally stable until the expiry date printed on the blister strip and carton. Do not use the tablets after this date.

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture, in the original blister packaging until ready to use. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

• Known hypersensitivity to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, or other piperazine derivatives
• Severe kidney impairment, where a dose adjustment may be required under medical advice
• Use in young children below the age recommended for this tablet strength without medical advice
• Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding without first checking with a doctor or pharmacist

• Alcohol and other sedating medicines — may increase drowsiness when combined with cetirizine
• Other central nervous system depressants (such as sleeping tablets or certain pain medicines) — possible additive sedative effect
• No significant food interactions are expected, and it may be taken with or without meals
• Inform your pharmacist of all other medicines you are taking, including other allergy treatments, to avoid unnecessary duplication
