Rhinitin Syrup

Rhinitin Syrup contains loratadine, a non-sedating antihistamine in a liquid form that makes it easy to dose accurately for both adults and children who have difficulty swallowing tablets. It is used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis — such as sneezing, a runny or itchy nose, and itchy, watery eyes — as well as chronic urticaria (hives) and other itchy allergic skin reactions.

Loratadine works quickly and typically causes less drowsiness than older antihistamines, making Rhinitin Syrup a practical over-the-counter option for everyday allergy symptoms in Malaysia; a pharmacist should be consulted for correct dosing in young children or if symptoms are severe or accompanied by breathing difficulty.

Loratadine selectively blocks peripheral histamine H1 receptors, preventing histamine from triggering the sneezing, itching, nasal congestion, and skin wealing typically seen in allergic reactions, while having minimal effect on histamine receptors in the brain, which is why it causes less sedation than first-generation antihistamines.

Shake the bottle well before each use, measure the dose accurately using the measuring cup or oral syringe provided rather than a household spoon, and take by mouth once daily, with or without food.

The usual dose for adults and children aged 6 years and above is 10mg (typically 10ml, depending on the product strength) once daily; for children aged 2 to under 6 years, a lower dose such as 5mg (5ml) once daily may be recommended — always check the product label or ask a pharmacist for the exact dose appropriate to age and weight.

Rhinitin Syrup is generally stable for around 2 years when unopened and stored correctly; once opened, use within the period stated on the label, and always check the expiry date before use.

Store below 30°C in a dry place away from direct sunlight, keep the bottle tightly closed between uses, and keep out of the reach of children.
