Zynor 10mg Tablet

Zynor 10mg Tablet contains amlodipine besylate, a long-acting calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and to prevent chest pain caused by angina, including angina triggered by coronary artery spasm.

Amlodipine works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels. It blocks the entry of calcium into the smooth muscle cells that line the walls of arteries, which reduces resistance in the blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, and improves blood flow to the heart muscle.

• Treats high blood pressure (hypertension), alone or together with other blood pressure medicines.
• Prevents and treats chest pain (angina), including classic exertional angina and vasospastic (Prinzmetal’s) angina.

• Once-daily dosing due to its long half-life, which supports steady blood pressure control and treatment adherence.
• Smooth, gradual onset of action with a low likelihood of sudden blood-pressure drops.
• Can be combined with other classes of blood pressure medicine (e.g. ARBs) when a single agent is not enough.

Zynor blocks L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, preventing calcium from entering these cells. With less calcium available, the muscle cells in the arterial walls relax, causing the blood vessels to widen (vasodilation), which lowers blood pressure and reduces the heart’s workload.

Take the tablet at about the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow it whole with a glass of water; do not stop taking it suddenly without your doctor’s advice, even if you feel well.

The usual starting dose for adults is 5mg once daily, which the doctor may increase up to a maximum of 10mg once daily depending on blood pressure response; the exact dose and any adjustment is individualised by the treating doctor.

• Known hypersensitivity to amlodipine or other dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers
• Severe hypotension (very low blood pressure)
• Cardiogenic shock
• Severe aortic stenosis

• Grapefruit and grapefruit juice can increase amlodipine levels in the blood and should generally be avoided or limited.
• Combining with other blood-pressure-lowering medicines can increase the risk of low blood pressure and dizziness.
• Simvastatin doses above 20mg daily may need to be limited when taken with amlodipine, due to an increased risk of muscle-related side effects.
• Inform your doctor of all medicines you are taking, including over-the-counter and herbal products.

• Rise slowly from sitting or lying down, especially at the start of treatment, to avoid dizziness from a drop in blood pressure.
• Report new or worsening ankle swelling to your doctor.
• Do not double the dose if you miss one; take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose.
• Continue lifestyle measures (low salt intake, regular exercise) alongside this medicine for best blood pressure control.
