Paras Tablet

Paras Tablet is a fixed-dose combination medicine containing paracetamol 300mg and chlorzoxazone 250mg, used to relieve musculoskeletal pain accompanied by muscle spasm, such as low back pain, muscle strain, and sprains.

Paracetamol relieves pain and fever, while chlorzoxazone relaxes tight or spasming muscles, together addressing both the pain and the muscle tightness that often occur together after a musculoskeletal injury.

Paracetamol is thought to reduce pain and fever mainly through central inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the brain and spinal cord, with relatively little effect on peripheral inflammation. Chlorzoxazone acts within the spinal cord and subcortical areas of the brain to inhibit the multisynaptic reflex pathways responsible for maintaining muscle spasm, allowing the affected muscle to relax without significantly affecting overall muscle strength.

Take Paras Tablet with or after food with a glass of water, at evenly spaced intervals. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time needed to control your symptoms, and stop taking it once your pain and muscle spasm have resolved unless your doctor advises otherwise.

The usual adult dose of Paras Tablet is one to two tablets taken two to three times daily as needed for pain and muscle spasm, up to the maximum daily dose advised by your doctor or stated on the product label. Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration of use, and do not take other paracetamol-containing products at the same time, to avoid exceeding the safe daily limit of paracetamol.

Use this product before the expiry date stated on the packaging. Do not use the medicine if the expiry date has passed.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

• Drowsiness or dizziness
• Nausea or stomach discomfort
• Reddish-purple discolouration of urine (a harmless effect of chlorzoxazone that resolves after stopping the medicine)
• General weakness
• Serious: signs of liver problems (yellowing of the skin/eyes, dark urine, severe abdominal pain) or a severe allergic reaction (facial swelling, difficulty breathing, widespread rash) require urgent medical attention

• Known hypersensitivity to paracetamol, chlorzoxazone, or any ingredient in this product
• Severe liver impairment or active liver disease
• Use together with other paracetamol-containing medicines (risk of paracetamol overdose)
• Situations requiring full alertness, such as driving or operating machinery, before you know how this medicine affects you

• Alcohol increases the risk of liver damage from paracetamol and adds to the drowsiness caused by chlorzoxazone
• Other sedating medicines (e.g. antihistamines, sleeping tablets, opioids) can add to chlorzoxazone’s drowsiness
• Taking other paracetamol-containing products (many cold and flu remedies) at the same time risks exceeding the safe daily paracetamol dose
• Inform your doctor of all medicines you are taking, especially other pain relievers

• Do not combine with other paracetamol-containing products to avoid exceeding the safe daily limit
• Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine
• Be cautious with driving or operating machinery until you know how this medicine affects you, as it can cause drowsiness
• Use for the shortest duration needed for your symptoms
• Seek medical advice if pain or muscle spasm does not improve within a few days
