Alatrol 5mg/ml Syrup is an oral antihistamine syrup containing cetirizine, a second-generation (non-drowsy) antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis (hay fever), hives (urticaria), and other allergic skin reactions. It works by blocking histamine, the chemical the body releases during an allergic reaction, helping to reduce sneezing, a runny or itchy nose, itchy and watery eyes, and itchy skin or hives.

Alatrol 5mg/ml Syrup is a non-prescription (over-the-counter) product available in Malaysia and Singapore, making it a convenient option for children and adults who have difficulty swallowing tablets, or for parents managing a child’s allergy symptoms at home. As with any antihistamine, the correct dose should always be measured using the measuring device provided with the syrup, and a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted if symptoms persist beyond a few days or if the syrup is intended for a child under 2 years old.

Cetirizine, the active ingredient in Alatrol Syrup, is a selective histamine H1-receptor antagonist that blocks histamine from binding to its receptors in the nose, eyes, skin, and airways, preventing the cascade of symptoms — such as swelling, itching, redness, and increased mucus production — that histamine would otherwise trigger during an allergic reaction.
