Axcel Chlorpheniramine 4mg Tablet is taken by mouth, usually with a glass of water, and can be taken with or without food, although taking it with food may help reduce stomach upset in sensitive individuals. Swallow the tablet whole; do not exceed the dose or frequency recommended on the product label or by your pharmacist, and avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medicine affects you, as it can cause drowsiness.

The usual adult and adolescent (12 years and above) dose is one 4mg tablet every 4 to 6 hours as needed, up to a maximum of six tablets (24mg) in 24 hours. Children below 12 years should only use chlorpheniramine under the guidance of a pharmacist or doctor, with lower, age-appropriate doses, and this tablet formulation is generally not suitable for young children who cannot swallow tablets safely. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to its sedative and anticholinergic effects and may need a lower dose.

Axcel Chlorpheniramine 4mg Tablet is typically stable for up to 36 months from the date of manufacture when unopened and stored correctly; always check the expiry date printed on the pack or blister strip and do not use the tablet after this date.

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture, and keep the tablets in their original blister strip or container until ready to use. Keep this medicine out of the reach and sight of children.

• Drowsiness or sleepiness (common, especially at higher doses)
• Dry mouth, nose, or throat
• Dizziness or light-headedness
• Blurred vision
• Constipation or mild stomach upset
• Difficulty passing urine (urinary retention)
• Thickened respiratory secretions
• Paradoxical excitability, especially in children (restlessness instead of drowsiness)

• Known allergy or hypersensitivity to chlorpheniramine or any ingredient in this tablet
• Narrow-angle (closed-angle) glaucoma
• Severe enlarged prostate (BPH) with difficulty urinating or urinary retention
• Severe asthma attack or acute lower respiratory tract symptoms
• Use of a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past 14 days
• Newborn or premature infants

• Alcohol – increases drowsiness and sedation
• Other sedating antihistamines, sleeping tablets, or anti-anxiety medicines – additive drowsiness
• Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) – can prolong and intensify anticholinergic effects
• Other anticholinergic medicines (e.g. for overactive bladder, some antidepressants) – increased risk of dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, urinary retention
• Central nervous system depressants such as opioids or muscle relaxants – increased sedation
• Other cold and flu products that already contain an antihistamine – risk of accidental double dosing

• Take with a full glass of water; food is not required but may help if it upsets your stomach
• Avoid alcohol and other sedating medicines while taking this tablet
• Be cautious with driving, cycling, or operating machinery, especially when starting treatment
• Do not exceed the maximum recommended daily dose
• Check other cold, flu, or allergy products you are taking to avoid duplicating antihistamines
