Overview

HLP Panomor Ointment is a topical ointment manufactured under the HLP Lifesenze brand and sold in Malaysia and Singapore as an OTC product in a 30g tube. Its confirmed active ingredients are Methyl Salicylate 25%, Camphor 5%, Menthol 5%, and Eucalyptus Oil 5%, combined in an ointment base.

This combination of salicylate, camphor, menthol, and eucalyptus oil is a well-established formulation category for topical rub-type ointments, distinguishing it from herbal-extract-only gels or heparinoid-based products. It has a characteristic warming, aromatic quality typical of this ointment category.

As an OTC product, HLP Panomor Ointment can be purchased at pharmacies in Malaysia and Singapore without a doctor’s prescription, and is commonly kept in household first aid kits.

Directions for Use

  • Clean and dry the skin area before application.
  • Rub a small amount of HLP Panomor Ointment onto the affected area, 3 to 4 times daily, or as directed on the pack.
  • Massage gently until the ointment is absorbed into the skin.
  • Wash hands thoroughly after application unless the hands are the area being treated.
  • Do not apply to open wounds, broken skin, or mucous membranes, and do not cover the treated area with an airtight bandage.

Dosage

HLP Panomor Ointment is for external use on the skin only. A small amount rubbed into the affected area is sufficient for each application.

The ointment is generally applied 3 to 4 times a day. Do not apply more frequently than directed on the pack.

This product is not intended for oral use or use in the eyes, mouth, nose, or on mucous membranes.

Storage Instructions

  • Keep the tube tightly capped after each use.
  • Store out of the reach and sight of children.
  • Do not store near heat sources.

Side Effects

  • Common: A warming or cooling sensation, mild stinging, or tingling at the application site.
  • Common: Temporary redness of the skin where the ointment is applied.
  • Serious: Signs of an allergic skin reaction, such as rash, hives, or marked swelling, which need prompt medical attention.
  • Serious: Blistering, chemical burn-like skin damage, or severe irritation, particularly if the ointment is covered with a tight bandage or heat is applied over it.

Contraindications

  • Do not use if there is a known allergy or hypersensitivity to salicylates (including aspirin), camphor, menthol, or eucalyptus oil.
  • Do not apply to open wounds, broken or infected skin, or mucous membranes.
  • Do not use with a heating pad, hot water bottle, or other direct heat source over the treated area, as this can increase absorption and the risk of skin burns.
  • Do not use in or near the eyes.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Avoid using HLP Panomor Ointment together with other topical or oral salicylate-containing products at the same time, as this may increase the total salicylate exposure through the skin.
  • People taking oral anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medicines should check with a pharmacist or doctor before regular use of salicylate-containing topical products.
  • No specific food interactions have been identified for this product.

Quick Tips

  • Apply to clean, dry skin and massage in gently.
  • Do not apply immediately before or after a hot shower or bath, as heat can increase skin absorption.
  • Avoid tight bandaging or heating pads over the treated area.
  • Wash hands thoroughly after applying, unless the hands are the treated area.
  • Keep the tube capped tightly between uses.
  • Keep out of reach of children and away from the eyes.

Relevant Information

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Speak to a doctor or pharmacist if the treated area shows signs of infection, if a rash, blistering, or marked swelling develops after application, or if the area does not appear to be settling as expected over a reasonable period of self-care.
