Livemore Gasmint Sachet

Livemore Gasmint Sachet is a peppermint-flavoured liquid formulation supplied in single-dose sachets, based on a combination of sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium carbonate. This combination places the product in the alginate-based liquid antacid category, mechanistically similar to other well-known alginate raft-forming formulations, rather than being a simethicone-based anti-flatulence product.

Each box contains 15 sachets of 15ml each, designed for individual single-use dosing without the need to measure liquid from a bottle. Livemore Gasmint is sold as an over-the-counter product in Malaysia and is manufactured to combine its three active components with a peppermint flavouring agent for palatability.

Sodium alginate reacts with stomach acid to form a viscous gel layer, while the sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate in the formulation react with gastric acid to release carbon dioxide, which becomes trapped within this alginate gel and causes it to float to the top of the stomach contents, forming a physical raft-like barrier. Sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate also act as neutralising agents that reduce the acidity of the gastric contents on contact. The peppermint flavouring is included to make the liquid more palatable and does not contribute to the alginate/antacid mechanism.

Tear open one sachet along the marked edge. The liquid may be swallowed directly from the sachet or poured into a small amount of water before drinking. Take after meals and at bedtime, or as directed on the packaging, and avoid taking it at the same time as other oral medicines, since it may affect their absorption if taken together (see Drug/Food Interactions).

Adults and children over the age stated on the package insert typically take 1 sachet (15ml), swallowed directly or diluted in a small amount of water, after meals and at bedtime, or as directed on the packaging. The maximum number of sachets per day should follow the instructions on the box or the advice of a doctor or pharmacist, and use should not exceed the stated duration without professional guidance.

The shelf life of Livemore Gasmint Sachet is stated on the box and individual sachets at the time of manufacture. Use the product before the expiry date printed on the packaging and do not use it beyond that date.

Store Livemore Gasmint Sachet below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep sachets in their original box until ready to use and keep them out of the reach of children.

• Common: mild bloating sensation shortly after the raft forms in the stomach.
• Common: mild constipation or changes in bowel habit with regular use, related to the calcium carbonate component.
• Serious: signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing, which require immediate medical attention.

• Known hypersensitivity or allergy to sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, or any other ingredient of the formulation.
• Conditions requiring a low-sodium or low-calcium diet, unless specifically advised otherwise by a doctor, given the sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate content of each sachet.

• The raft-forming and antacid action of this product may reduce the absorption of certain oral medicines, such as some antibiotics (e.g. tetracyclines, quinolones) and iron supplements, if taken at the same time; a gap of at least 2 hours between doses is generally advised.
• Sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate may alter the absorption of some other medicines through changes in stomach acidity; check with a doctor or pharmacist if taking other regular medication.
• No clinically significant food interactions are known beyond the recommended timing of doses relative to meals.

• Take one sachet at a time rather than combining several sachets in a single dose.
• Leave a gap of at least 2 hours between this product and other oral medicines where possible.
• Keep unused sachets in the original box to protect them from moisture.
• Check the expiry date on each sachet and the outer box before use.
• Shake or knead the sachet gently before opening if the contents appear to have separated.
• Note how many sachets have been used against the maximum daily number stated on the packaging.

Precautions: Livemore Gasmint Sachet should be used with caution by individuals who have been advised to follow a low-sodium or low-calcium diet, given its sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate content. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or in children below the age stated on the packaging, should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist beforehand. Persons with kidney conditions should check with a doctor before regular use, as sodium and calcium intake may need to be monitored.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Speak with a doctor or pharmacist if symptoms persist beyond the period stated on the packaging, if there is difficulty swallowing, unintentional weight loss, or blood in vomit or stool, or if signs of an allergic reaction appear after use. These may indicate a condition that requires further medical assessment rather than continued self-treatment.
