Overview

Marimer Isotonic Hygiene Nasal Spray for Baby is a nasal spray with 100% Natural Isotonic Diluted Seawater (Sterile seawater + purified water) declared as its active content. It is supplied in a pack size of 100ml.

This is an over-the-counter (OTC) product and can be purchased without a prescription. Only product, safety and handling details are published on this page.

An online consultation with a DoctorOnCall doctor or pharmacist is available for this product, and a registered pharmacist reviews each order before dispatch to Malaysia or Singapore. Follow the directions on the label and on the leaflet inside the pack.

Directions for Use

Position your baby on their side or sit them upright, whichever is more comfortable and allows better control. Gently insert the soft nozzle just inside one nostril and press briefly for a gentle spray, then allow the solution to work for a few seconds before wiping away any excess fluid or loosened mucus with a soft tissue. Repeat for the other nostril. Use a nasal aspirator afterwards if the mucus is thick and difficult to clear. Clean the nozzle after each use and always supervise your baby during and immediately after use.

Dosage

As a non-medicated hygiene spray, there is no fixed pharmacological dose. General usage guidance for babies is one to two gentle sprays into each nostril, one to three times a day, or as directed by a healthcare provider, particularly before feeding or sleeping if the nose feels blocked, and during colds or nasal congestion. Always administer the spray as the caregiver and supervise your baby throughout; check with your paediatrician or pharmacist if you are unsure about frequency for a newborn or unwell baby.

Shelf Life

Use before the expiry date printed on the bottle and carton. As with most multi-dose baby nasal sprays, check the packaging for any stated in-use period after first opening (commonly a few months), and discard the bottle once that period has passed, even if solution remains, given the added hygiene sensitivity needed for infant products.

Storage Instructions

Store below 25°C, away from direct sunlight and heat, and well out of the reach and sight of children. Keep the bottle upright with the cap closed between uses, and do not freeze.

Side Effects

  • Common: Mild sneezing or a brief runny nose after use.
  • Common: Slight nasal tingling, which usually settles quickly and is considered a normal response.
  • Serious: Persistent irritation, nosebleeds, or signs of ear discomfort are uncommon; stop use and consult a doctor if these occur.

Contraindications

  • Not for use in babies with a known hypersensitivity to seawater-based nasal products.
  • Not intended for use in the ears or eyes; use only in the nose as directed.
  • Not a substitute for medical treatment of a diagnosed ear, nose or sinus infection in a baby.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No clinically significant drug or food interactions are known for this seawater nasal spray, as it is not systemically absorbed.
  • Always consult a paediatrician before combining it with other cold medications or nasal treatments in a young baby.

Quick Tips

  • Many parents find it convenient to use the spray shortly before a feed as part of their routine.
  • Warm the bottle briefly in your hands first, as a cold spray can startle a baby.
  • Keep a soft tissue or nasal aspirator on hand to clear loosened mucus after spraying.
  • Do not share the bottle and nozzle between siblings or other children.
  • Use gentle pressure only; avoid pressing the pump forcefully, especially in newborns.
  • Check the expiry date and the stated in-use period on the packaging before each use.

Relevant Information

Marimer Isotonic Hygiene Nasal Spray for Baby is a non-medicated, seawater-based hygiene product for infants; it is not a treatment for a diagnosed ear, nose or sinus infection.

Precautions: Always supervise use and apply gently; excessive pressure in a young infant may in rare cases allow solution to reach the middle ear via the short, wide Eustachian tube typical of babies. If your baby was born prematurely, has a history of frequent ear infections, or has any diagnosed ear, nose or airway condition, check with a paediatrician or pharmacist before regular use.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: See a doctor promptly if your baby has persistent nasal congestion lasting more than a few days, difficulty feeding or breathing, high fever, apparent ear pain, thick discoloured discharge, or if you are unsure whether the symptoms need medical attention, as young infants should be assessed without delay if there is any concern.
