Neobun Plaster

Neobun Plaster is a medicated adhesive plaster combining Menthol, Camphor, and Methyl Salicylate as its key active ingredients within an adhesive patch base, designed for direct application to the skin. It belongs to the topical rubefacient/counter-irritant plaster category, a well-established OTC (Over-the-Counter) product class sold widely in Malaysian pharmacies. Neobun is a long-standing brand originally from Thailand, now distributed across several Southeast Asian markets including Malaysia.

As an OTC (Over-the-Counter) product, Neobun Plaster can be purchased in Malaysia without a doctor’s prescription and is commonly stocked alongside other menthol/camphor/salicylate plaster brands. The plaster format allows for continuous, localised skin contact over a period of hours, differing from creams, gels, or sprays that require repeated manual reapplication.

Neobun Plaster is sold in sachet packs of individually wrapped plasters, commonly in packs of 5 or 10 sheets of a standard rectangular size. It should not be confused with other variants in the Neobun range, such as the Ginger & Lemongrass or Capsicum plasters, which use different active ingredient combinations and are formulated for a different sensory profile.

Clean and dry the skin area before use. Peel off the protective backing film and apply the plaster directly to the intended area of skin, pressing down firmly around the edges to ensure good adhesion. Apply to intact, non-broken skin only, and avoid applying to the face, mucous membranes, or areas with cuts, rashes, or eczema. Do not apply more than one plaster to the same area of skin at a time, and remove the plaster if the skin becomes excessively irritated. Wash your hands after applying or removing the plaster, and avoid touching your eyes until you have done so, as the active ingredients can cause stinging if transferred to the eyes.

Neobun Plaster is a topical medicated patch, not an orally dosed medicine, so a conventional milligram-based dosage does not apply. As a general guide for adults and children above the age stated on the packaging, apply one plaster to the affected area 1 to 2 times daily, or as directed on the product packaging, allowing the skin to rest between applications. Do not apply more than one plaster to the same skin area at a time. If skin irritation, a rash, or discomfort develops, remove the plaster and do not reapply to that area until the skin has settled. See a doctor or pharmacist if discomfort persists for more than 7 days of regular use, or if it worsens.

Use Neobun Plaster before the expiry date printed on the sachet and outer packaging. Individually wrapped, unopened plasters generally remain stable until the printed expiry date; once a plaster’s individual wrapper is opened, use it promptly, as exposure to air can reduce the potency of the volatile active ingredients over time.

Store the sachet or box at room temperature, below 30°C, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep individual plasters in their sealed wrapper until ready to use, and keep the product out of the reach and sight of children.

• Common: Mild warming, cooling, or tingling sensation at the application site, which is expected with this type of plaster.
• Common: Mild skin redness or irritation at the edges of the plaster, particularly with prolonged wear.
• Serious: Signs of an allergic skin reaction, such as significant swelling, blistering, or a spreading rash, which require the plaster to be removed and medical attention sought.
• Serious: Skin burns or severe irritation, particularly if heat has been applied over the plaster or if it has been left on for longer than directed.

• Known hypersensitivity or allergy to salicylates (including aspirin), menthol, camphor, thymol, or any other ingredient in the plaster.
• Not for use on broken, cut, infected, or severely irritated skin, or on the face, eyes, or mucous membranes.
• Not for use together with a heating pad, hot water bottle, or other direct heat source over the application site.

• Avoid applying this plaster to the same skin area as another topical product containing salicylates, menthol, or camphor, such as a medicated balm, liniment, or another plaster, to prevent excessive combined exposure to these ingredients through the skin.
• Methyl salicylate absorbed through the skin can, in significant or excessive use, add to the effect of oral salicylate or blood-thinning medicines such as warfarin; check with a pharmacist or doctor if you are taking an oral blood-thinning medicine before using this product regularly or over large areas of skin.
• No specific food interactions are known for this topical product, as it is not taken orally.

• Apply the plaster to clean, dry, intact skin for the best adhesion.
• Avoid covering the plaster with tight clothing that could trap heat or increase absorption.
• Remove one plaster before applying a fresh one to the same area, rather than layering plasters.
• Keep unused plasters in their original sealed sachet until needed, to preserve freshness.
• Wash your hands after handling the plaster and before touching your eyes or face.
• Check the expiry date on the sachet before use.

Precautions: Neobun Plaster is for external use on intact skin only. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should check with a pharmacist or doctor before regular use, and use in children should follow the age guidance on the packaging. Avoid use on sensitive skin areas, near the eyes, or on skin that is broken, infected, or recently treated with other topical products.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: See a doctor or pharmacist if discomfort persists beyond 7 days of regular use, if the skin reaction worsens or spreads, if there are signs of an allergic reaction, or if you are taking an oral blood-thinning medicine and are unsure whether regular use of this plaster is suitable for you.
