Perskindol Gel

Perskindol Gel is a topical gel formulated with Menthol and Methyl Salicylate as its key active ingredients, presented in a smooth gel base for external application to the skin.

It is classified as an OTC (Over-the-Counter) topical gel, available for purchase directly from a pharmacy without a doctor’s prescription, and is supplied in a 100ml tube designed for controlled, mess-free dispensing.

Its gel format gives it a non-greasy, fast-absorbing finish compared with oil-based liniments, with a combined cooling-then-warming sensory profile on the skin, and it belongs to the internationally recognised Swiss Perskindol topical care range that is also distributed in Malaysia and Singapore.

Squeeze a small amount of Perskindol Gel onto clean, intact skin and massage gently until absorbed, avoiding excessive amounts in one application. Wash your hands with soap and water immediately after applying, unless the hands are the area being treated. The gel is for external use only and must not be applied to open wounds, broken or irritated skin, the eyes, nose, mouth, or other mucous membranes.

Perskindol Gel is a topical preparation and not an oral medicine, so a fixed oral dose does not apply. As a general guide, it may be applied to the affected area up to 3-4 times a day, or as directed on the product label, and should not be used more often than stated on the packaging. If there is no improvement after several days of regular use, or if the area becomes more painful, swollen, or irritated, stop using the gel and consult a pharmacist or doctor.

Use Perskindol Gel before the expiry date printed on the tube and outer carton. Once opened, use the product within the period stated on the label, as the potency of its active ingredients may reduce over time once the tube has been opened and exposed to air repeatedly.

Store Perskindol Gel at room temperature below 25-30°C, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and keep the tube cap tightly closed between uses. Keep the product out of the reach and sight of children, and avoid squeezing the tube near an open flame given its aromatic oil content.

• Common: A combined cooling and warming sensation on the skin shortly after application.
• Common: Mild skin redness or a tingling sensation at the site of application.
• Common: A noticeable menthol scent on the skin and clothing after use.
• Serious: Allergic contact dermatitis with itching, rash, swelling, or blistering, which requires prompt medical attention if it occurs.
• Serious: Signs of salicylate absorption such as ringing in the ears, nausea, or dizziness with excessive or prolonged use over large areas, which needs urgent medical review.

• Known hypersensitivity or allergy to menthol, methyl salicylate, aspirin, or other salicylates.
• Application to broken, cut, or infected skin, open wounds, or areas of severe irritation.
• Application near or in the eyes, inside the nose or mouth, or on other mucous membranes.
• Use under an occlusive dressing, tight bandage, or heating pad, which may increase absorption and the risk of irritation or salicylate toxicity.
• Oral ingestion of the product under any circumstances, as it is formulated for external use only.

• Individuals taking oral anticoagulant medicines (such as warfarin) should inform their doctor or pharmacist before regularly using Perskindol Gel, as methyl salicylate absorbed through the skin may add to the anticoagulant effect with extensive or prolonged use.
• Avoid applying this gel to the same area at the same time as other topical products containing methyl salicylate, aspirin-related compounds, or other salicylates, as this may increase the risk of excessive absorption.
• Avoid using a heating pad or hot compress on the treated area shortly after application, as this may increase skin absorption and the risk of irritation or toxicity.

• Apply a thin, even layer rather than a thick layer, as more gel does not improve absorption.
• Wash your hands immediately after use to avoid transferring the gel to your eyes or mucous membranes.
• Avoid tight clothing or bandaging over the treated area shortly after applying the gel.
• Close the tube cap firmly after each use to prevent the gel from drying out at the nozzle.
• Do a small patch test if you have never used this product before or have sensitive skin.
• Avoid using this gel on large areas of the body at once, given its methyl salicylate content.

Precautions: Use Perskindol Gel on intact skin only, applying a thin layer, and avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, and other mucous membranes. Pregnant or breastfeeding women, individuals taking oral anticoagulant or other salicylate-containing medicines, and those with aspirin sensitivity should check with a pharmacist before use. Do not apply the gel under a tight bandage or heating pad, and avoid using it over large areas of the body at one time.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Stop using the gel and seek medical advice if you develop a skin rash, blistering, severe redness, or persistent irritation after application, or if you notice signs such as ringing in the ears, nausea, or dizziness that could suggest excessive salicylate absorption.
