Pritamol 500mg Tablet

Pritamol 500mg Tablet is an over-the-counter tablet formulated with paracetamol (acetaminophen) 500mg as its single active ingredient. It is marketed in Malaysia under the Pritamol brand by Prime, and is sold as a straightforward, single-ingredient paracetamol tablet intended for general household use by adults and children aged 12 years and above.

The tablet is manufactured for oral administration and is designed to be swallowed whole with water. As with other paracetamol-only products, Pritamol 500mg Tablet does not contain any additional active ingredients such as caffeine, codeine, or decongestants — its formulation is limited to paracetamol together with standard tablet-forming excipients.

Pritamol 500mg Tablet is sold in Malaysia in a pack of 10 tablets (10s) through DoctorOnCall’s online pharmacy. The same Pritamol brand also has a suppository line intended for children, so customers should check the exact product name, strength, and dosage form printed on the pack before use, since the tablet and suppository formulations are dosed very differently.

Pritamol 500mg Tablet is taken orally. Swallow the tablet whole with a sufficient amount of water; avoid crushing or chewing it unless a pharmacist has advised otherwise.

The tablet can be taken with or without food, although taking it after a meal may help reduce the chance of stomach discomfort for some individuals.

Do not use the tablets after this date, even if some remain in the strip, as the manufacturer cannot guarantee their effectiveness or safety beyond the printed expiry.

Store below 30°C, in a dry place away from direct sunlight and excess moisture.

Keep tablets in their original blister strip until immediately before use, and store the pack out of reach and sight of children.

• Regular or heavy alcohol intake increases the risk of liver-related side effects when combined with paracetamol.
• Long-term or frequent use alongside warfarin or other anticoagulants may affect blood-clotting monitoring; inform your doctor if you take anticoagulant medicines.
• Certain anti-epileptic and anti-tuberculosis medicines can affect how the body processes paracetamol; check with a doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
• Avoid taking alongside other cough, cold, flu, or pain-relief products that also list paracetamol as an ingredient, to prevent accidental overdose.

• Read the ingredient list of any other medicine before combining it with this tablet, since paracetamol is a common ingredient in many combination products.
• Space doses at least 4 hours apart and keep a simple written record if you are taking several doses in a day.
• Take the tablet with a full glass of water while upright, rather than lying down.
• Leave tablets in the blister strip until just before you take them, to keep them protected from moisture.
• Store this tablet separately from the Pritamol suppository if your household has both, to avoid confusing the two formulations.
• Keep the pack out of reach and sight of children at all times, including when travelling.

Precautions: People with existing liver conditions, regular heavy alcohol use, or poor nutrition should seek medical advice before use, as they may be more susceptible to paracetamol-related liver effects. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose, and avoid prolonged use without medical advice.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Seek medical attention immediately if an overdose is suspected, even if you feel well, since early overdose symptoms can be mild or delayed.
