Overview

Sandoz Pregabalin 150mg Capsule contains pregabalin 150mg, an anticonvulsant (anti-epileptic) medicine also used to treat neuropathic (nerve) pain and generalised anxiety disorder (GAD). It is prescribed as add-on treatment for partial-onset seizures, for pain caused by nerve damage (such as diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, or spinal cord injury), and for GAD.

Pregabalin binds to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels on nerve endings in the brain and spinal cord. This reduces the release of excitatory neurotransmitters such as glutamate, noradrenaline and substance P, which calms overactive nerve signalling responsible for seizures, nerve pain and excessive anxiety.

How it Works

By binding to the alpha-2-delta subunit of calcium channels on overactive nerves, pregabalin reduces the amount of excitatory chemical messengers released, dampening abnormal electrical activity that causes seizures and reducing the transmission of pain signals to the brain.

Directions for Use

Take Sandoz Pregabalin 150mg Capsule capsules whole with water, with or without food, at the same times each day. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly – your doctor will reduce the dose gradually over at least one week, as abrupt withdrawal can cause insomnia, nausea, headache, anxiety or, rarely, seizures.

Dosage

The dose of Sandoz Pregabalin 150mg Capsule depends on the condition being treated – typically starting at 75mg twice daily (150mg/day) for neuropathic pain or GAD and increased gradually if needed, up to a doctor-determined maximum. Doses are lower and adjusted in patients with reduced kidney function. Always take the exact dose and schedule prescribed by your doctor.
