Overview

Sunward Deltasolone Tablet contains prednisolone 5mg, a corticosteroid (steroid) tablet used to reduce inflammation and suppress an overactive immune response in a wide range of conditions, including asthma flare-ups, severe allergic reactions, certain autoimmune and inflammatory disorders (such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus), and some blood and skin conditions.

Prednisolone works by entering cells and binding to glucocorticoid receptors, which switch off the production of inflammatory chemical messengers and reduce the activity of immune cells involved in swelling, redness, and tissue damage.

How it Works

Prednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid that mimics the body’s natural cortisol. It suppresses the release of inflammatory substances such as prostaglandins and cytokines, reduces swelling and the migration of immune cells to sites of inflammation, and dampens the overall activity of the immune system.

Directions for Use

Take prednisolone tablets with or after food to reduce stomach upset, at the times advised by your doctor, usually as a single morning dose to mimic the body’s natural cortisol rhythm. If a course is prescribed for more than a few days, do not stop it abruptly – your doctor will advise on how to taper the dose safely.

Dosage

The dose of prednisolone depends on the condition being treated and its severity, and your doctor will individualise it. Short courses for acute conditions are typically prescribed for a few days, while chronic conditions may require longer courses with gradual dose reduction. Take exactly as prescribed; do not adjust the dose yourself.

Shelf Life

Use this product before the expiry date stated on the packaging. Do not use the medicine if the expiry date has passed.

  • Inform your doctor of all other medicines, supplements, and herbal products you are taking

Quick Tips

  • Take the dose in the morning with food to reduce stomach upset and mimic natural cortisol rhythm
  • Do not stop a longer course suddenly – follow the tapering schedule your doctor gives

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sunward Deltasolone used for?

It is a corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation and calm an overactive immune response in conditions such as asthma flare-ups, severe allergic reactions, and autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

How does this medicine work?

It mimics the body’s natural cortisol hormone, switching off inflammatory chemical signals and reducing swelling and immune cell activity.

Can I stop taking this medicine suddenly?

Not if it has been taken for more than a few days – stopping a longer steroid course abruptly can cause withdrawal effects; follow your doctor’s tapering instructions.

What are the common side effects?

Increased appetite, weight gain, mood changes or irritability, and mild stomach upset are commonly reported, especially with longer use.

Can this be taken with ibuprofen or other painkillers?

Taking NSAIDs such as ibuprofen together with prednisolone can increase the risk of stomach irritation – check with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Should this tablet be taken with food?

Yes, taking it with or after food helps reduce the chance of stomach upset.

Can this medicine be taken if I have diabetes?

Use with caution – prednisolone can raise blood glucose levels, so extra monitoring may be needed in people with diabetes.
