Overview

Sunward Polarine Syrup is supplied as a syrup, with Chlorpheniramine Maleate (equivalent to 2 mg per 5 mL, or as stated on the product label). It is supplied in a pack size of 60ml.

No prescription is required for this product, as it is a non-prescription medicine. This page is limited to product, safety and handling information.

If you would like guidance before buying, you can speak to a doctor or pharmacist through an online consultation on DoctorOnCall. Orders are dispensed by a registered pharmacist and delivered to your address.

Directions for Use

Sunward Polarine Syrup should be taken by mouth, measured using the dosing cup or spoon provided, and can be taken with or without food; taking it with food or milk may help reduce mild stomach upset. Shake the bottle well before each use and follow the dose stated on the product label or as advised by a pharmacist or doctor, especially when giving it to children.

Dosage

The typical adult dose is 4 mg (usually 10 mL of a standard 2 mg/5 mL syrup) taken every 4 to 6 hours as needed, not exceeding 6 doses (24 mg) in 24 hours; children’s doses are lower and based on age and body weight, so parents should check the product label or consult a pharmacist before giving it to a child under 6 years old. Do not exceed the maximum recommended daily dose, and seek medical advice if symptoms do not improve after a few days of use.

Shelf Life

Sunward Polarine Syrup is generally stable for up to 24 months from the date of manufacture when unopened and stored correctly; always check the expiry date printed on the bottle and carton before use, and discard the syrup once it has been opened for longer than the period stated on the packaging.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture, and keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Keep this medicine out of reach and sight of children, and avoid storing it in the bathroom or near a sink where humidity is high.

Relevant Information

Chlorpheniramine maleate is one of the most widely used first-generation antihistamines and has a long history of safe use for relieving allergy and cold symptoms in Malaysia when taken as directed; because it can cause drowsiness, it is best taken at bedtime if daytime alertness is needed, and patients with chronic conditions such as glaucoma, prostate enlargement, or heart disease should check with a pharmacist or doctor before use.
