Overview

Tiger Balm Plaster – RD Warm (L) contains Camphor, Menthol and Capsicum extract and is presented as a plaster. It is supplied in a pack size of 2s.

It is classified as an over-the-counter (OTC) medicine, so no prescription is needed to order it. Under Malaysian rules for medicine information, this page carries product, safety and handling information only.

You can consult a doctor or pharmacist online on DoctorOnCall about this product before or after you order. Every order is checked by a registered pharmacist before it is delivered. Always read the label and the leaflet supplied with the pack.

Directions for Use

Clean and dry the affected area of skin before application. Peel away the protective backing film and apply the plaster directly onto the skin, smoothing it down to ensure good adhesion. Avoid applying to broken, irritated, or recently shaved skin.

Leave the plaster in place for the duration recommended on the packaging (commonly several hours, and typically not intended for overnight or extended continuous wear beyond what is stated), then remove gently. Wash your hands after application and avoid touching your eyes, mouth, or other sensitive areas while the plaster’s active ingredients are on your fingers.

Dosage

Not applicable — this is a topical plaster for external use, not an orally or systemically dosed medicine. Apply one plaster to the affected area, and do not apply more than the number of plasters recommended on the packaging within a 24-hour period, or exceed the maximum wear time stated on the pack.

Storage Instructions

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat, and keep each plaster in its individual sealed wrapper until ready for use. Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Side Effects

  • Common: A warming, tingling, or mild burning sensation at the site of application, which is an expected effect of the active ingredients.
  • Common: Mild skin redness or irritation at the application site.
  • Serious: Skin blistering, chemical burn, or an allergic-type reaction such as intense itching, swelling, or widespread rash, which requires the plaster to be removed immediately and medical attention to be sought.

Contraindications

  • Do not apply to broken, wounded, infected, or highly irritated skin.
  • Do not apply to the face, eyes, mouth, nose, genitals, or other mucous membranes or sensitive areas.
  • Known hypersensitivity or allergy to camphor, menthol, eucalyptus oil, or any other ingredient in this plaster.
  • Not recommended for infants and young children due to the risk of skin irritation and accidental ingestion or contact with the eyes.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No significant drug interactions are known when this plaster is used topically as directed, since the active ingredients act locally on the skin with only minimal absorption into the bloodstream.
  • Avoid using this plaster at the same time as other topical products containing similar counter-irritant ingredients (such as other menthol, camphor, or capsaicin-based creams or plasters) on the same area, as this can increase the risk of skin irritation or a burning sensation.
  • No specific food interactions are known, as this is a topical product rather than one that is ingested.

Quick Tips

  • Apply to clean, dry, and intact skin only for the best adhesion and comfort.
  • Do not apply a heating pad, hot water bottle, or bandage tightly over the plaster, as trapping additional heat can increase the risk of skin burns.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly after handling the plaster to avoid transferring the active ingredients to your eyes or mucous membranes.
  • Remove the plaster if you feel excessive burning, stinging, or discomfort rather than waiting for the recommended wear time to end.
  • Do not apply to the same area as other topical pain-relief products at the same time.
  • Store unused plasters in their sealed wrapper to keep the active ingredients from evaporating before use.

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Camphor
  • Menthol
  • Capsicum extract
These ingredients work together to provide a soothing heat sensation while naturally relieving pain and discomfort.

Relevant Information

Precautions: This plaster is for external use on intact skin only, and should not be used under tight bandages, occlusive dressings, or with additional external heat sources, as this can intensify the warming effect and increase the risk of burns. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, and those with sensitive skin or a history of skin allergies, should check with a doctor or pharmacist before use. Keep away from children, as the plaster’s strong menthol and camphor odour can be attractive but the active ingredients are irritating and potentially harmful if ingested or if contact is made with the eyes.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Speak to a doctor or pharmacist if you experience significant swelling, deformity, or inability to bear weight or move a joint normally, as these may indicate an injury that needs further medical assessment rather than topical self-care alone.
