Xamiol Gel is usually applied once daily to the affected areas of the scalp and/or skin, as directed by your doctor. Squeeze a small amount from the tube and apply a thin layer to cover only the psoriasis plaques, gently rubbing it in. Wash your hands thoroughly after application unless the hands are being treated, and avoid contact with the face, eyes, mouth, and other mucous membranes.

The dose and treatment duration should be determined by your prescribing doctor. Typically, Xamiol Gel is applied once daily for up to four to eight weeks for body psoriasis, or up to eight weeks for scalp psoriasis, and the maximum recommended weekly amount should not be exceeded because of the corticosteroid and calcipotriol content. Do not use more often or for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor.

Check the expiry date printed on the carton or tube before use, and do not use Xamiol Gel beyond this date. Once opened, use the product within the period stated on the packaging, as the gel may lose stability with prolonged storage after opening.

Store Xamiol Gel below 30°C, away from direct heat and sunlight, and keep the container tightly closed when not in use. Do not freeze, and keep out of the sight and reach of children.

• Application-site irritation, burning, or stinging sensation
• Itching or redness at the treated area
• Skin thinning (atrophy) with prolonged or excessive use
• Changes in skin colour (lightening or darkening) at the application site
• Folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles) or acne-like spots
• Contact dermatitis or worsening of psoriasis in rare cases
• Raised blood or urine calcium levels if used in excessive amounts (calcipotriol)

• Known hypersensitivity to calcipotriol, betamethasone dipropionate, or any excipient
• Guttate, erythrodermic, exfoliative, or pustular forms of psoriasis
• Untreated bacterial, viral (including herpes and chickenpox), or fungal skin infections at the treatment site
• Known disorders of calcium metabolism
• Severe kidney or liver impairment, unless specifically advised by a doctor
• Use on the face, groin, or armpits without specific medical advice
• Not established for use in children under 18 years old

• Other topical corticosteroids used on the same area, which may increase the risk of skin thinning
• Other vitamin D analogues or high-dose vitamin D/calcium supplements, which may increase the risk of elevated calcium levels
• Other topical psoriasis treatments applied to the same site without medical advice
• Concurrent use of occlusive dressings, which can increase absorption and side effects

• Apply only a thin layer to the psoriasis plaques, not to normal surrounding skin
• Wash your hands after applying, unless your hands are the area being treated
• Avoid contact with the eyes, face, and mucous membranes
• Do not bandage or cover the treated area tightly unless your doctor advises it
• Keep to the once-daily frequency and course length your doctor has prescribed
• Attend follow-up appointments so your doctor can monitor your skin and response to treatment
• Report any unusual irritation, thinning skin, or lack of improvement to your doctor promptly

Xamiol Gel is a prescription-only combination product, and long-term continuous use should be avoided because of the corticosteroid component. Your doctor will usually review your psoriasis periodically and may alternate treatment or reduce frequency once your skin improves. Inform your doctor about any other topical or systemic treatments you are using for psoriasis, and let them know if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, as they will weigh the benefits and risks before prescribing.
