Overview
Acyclovir Auxilto 5% Cream is a cream with Aciclovir 5% w/w declared as its active content. It is supplied in a pack size of 10g.
This is a non-prescription product and can be purchased without a prescription. Only product, safety and handling details are published on this page.
An online consultation with a DoctorOnCall doctor or pharmacist is available for this product, and a registered pharmacist reviews each order before dispatch to Malaysia or Singapore. Follow the directions on the label and on the leaflet inside the pack.
Directions for Use
Wash your hands before and after application. Apply a thin layer of Acyclovir Auxilto 5% Cream to the affected area as soon as the first symptoms appear (tingling, itching, or redness), and reapply approximately every 4 hours, about 5 times a day, for 5 to 10 days as needed until the lesion has healed. Use a cotton bud or clean fingertip for application to avoid spreading the virus to other areas or to other people, and avoid sharing the tube with others.
Dosage
For adults and adolescents, apply Acyclovir Auxilto 5% Cream to the cold sore area 5 times a day at intervals of about 4 hours (for example, upon waking, mid-morning, early afternoon, evening, and before bed) for 5 to 10 days. Start treatment as early as possible, ideally at the first tingling or itching sensation, since starting late once the blister has already formed is less effective. If the cold sore has not improved after 10 days of treatment, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Shelf Life
Acyclovir Auxilto 5% Cream remains valid for use up to the expiry date printed on the tube and carton when stored correctly and unopened. Check the expiry date before each use and do not use the cream past its expiry date.
Storage Instructions
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Close the tube tightly after each use. Do not freeze. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Side Effects
- Nausea or vomiting
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Diarrhoea
- Joint or muscle pain
- Fatigue or tiredness
- Mild rash or skin reaction
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity or allergy to aciclovir, valaciclovir, or any ingredient in the cream
- Not for use inside the mouth, in the eyes, or on genital herpes sores unless a doctor advises otherwise, as a different formulation or oral treatment may be more suitable
- Not intended for use on broken or actively weeping skin beyond the typical cold sore blister without medical advice
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
- Consult a doctor if cold sores occur very frequently, are unusually severe, or occur in someone with a weakened immune system
Drug / Food Interactions
- Topical aciclovir has very low systemic absorption, so significant drug interactions are unlikely with normal use
- Avoid applying other creams, lip balms, or cosmetics directly on an active cold sore lesion at the same time as the cream, as this may reduce effectiveness or irritate the skin further
- No significant food interactions are expected with topical use
- Inform your pharmacist if you are using other antiviral medicines, in case of any product-specific advice
Quick Tips
- Apply at the very first tingling, itching, or burning sensation — earlier treatment gives better results
- Use a cotton bud or clean fingertip rather than fingers alone to reduce the risk of spreading the virus
- Avoid touching, picking, or squeezing the cold sore, and avoid kissing or sharing utensils/lip products while it is active
- Wash hands thoroughly after each application
- Protect lips from strong sunlight, which can trigger cold sore outbreaks in some people
- See a doctor if sores do not improve within 10 days, keep recurring frequently, or spread beyond the usual area
Ingredients / Active Ingredients
- Aciclovir 5% w/w (active ingredient)
- Cream base formulated for topical application to skin around the lips
- Emulsifying and thickening agents that give the cream its texture
- Preservative system to maintain product stability
- Purified water as the vehicle base

Relevant Information
Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus, which stays dormant in nerve tissue after the first infection and can reactivate due to triggers such as stress, sun exposure, fatigue, or fever. Acyclovir Auxilto 5% Cream treats an active outbreak but does not eliminate the virus from the body, so recurrence is possible. People who experience frequent or severe outbreaks, or those with weakened immune systems, should speak to a doctor about further management options.

Within Malaysia, standard delivery takes 3 to 5 working days. Same-day delivery is available in the Klang Valley for orders placed before 12pm; orders placed after 12pm arrive by the end of the next day.
Orders to Singapore are sent as international deliveries and take 5 to 9 working days. A lump-sum shipping and handling fee applies to every overseas delivery and is shown at checkout.
Customers in Malaysia can pay by FPX online banking, credit or debit card (Visa and Mastercard), and supported e-wallets including Touch ‘n Go eWallet, GrabPay and ShopeePay.

Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA) allows personal imports of up to three months’ supply of a medicine for your own use or an immediate family member’s, as long as it contains no controlled drugs, psychotropic substances or prohibited items. Keep the product in its original labelled packaging and keep a copy of your prescription or doctor’s letter with it. Quantities above three months’ supply, and medicines containing controlled substances, require prior HSA approval.
Products listed on DoctorOnCall are registered with Malaysia’s Ministry of Health for supply in Malaysia, and each pack carries its MAL registration number.
An order delivered to Singapore arrives as a personal import of a Malaysia-registered product; HSA product registration is not required for personal-use quantities, but it is also not the same as a product registered for sale in Singapore. If you need a locally registered Singapore product, buy it from a pharmacy in Singapore.
DoctorOnCall’s customer care team handles order, delivery and product queries through the contact channels on the site, including WhatsApp and the online help centre.
For deliveries to Singapore, allow more time before chasing an order than you would for a local Malaysian delivery, as the parcel passes through customs clearance and tracking updates can appear later in the journey.
