Overview

HOE Declovir 5% Cream is a cream with Acyclovir 5% w/w declared as its active content. It is supplied in a pack size of 5g.

This is a non-prescription product and can be purchased without a prescription. Only product, safety and handling details are published on this page.

An online consultation with a DoctorOnCall doctor or pharmacist is available for this product, and a registered pharmacist reviews each order before dispatch to Malaysia or Singapore. Follow the directions on the label and on the leaflet inside the pack.

Directions for Use

Apply HOE Declovir 5% Cream to the affected area as soon as the first signs of a cold sore appear (tingling, itching, or redness), using a clean fingertip or cotton bud, usually five times a day at approximately four-hour intervals, avoiding the eyes and inside the mouth, and continue for the number of days stated in the product leaflet or as advised by your pharmacist or doctor.

Dosage

The typical regimen is to apply the cream to cover the affected area and immediately surrounding skin five times daily, roughly every four hours, for five days; treatment started at the earliest tingling stage tends to be most effective, and if the cold sore has not healed after five days, treatment may be continued for a further five days.

Storage Instructions

Store below 25°C to 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and keep out of reach of children; close the tube tightly after each use.

Quick Tips

Relevant Information

Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus, which remains dormant in the body between outbreaks and can be triggered by factors such as stress, sunlight, fatigue, illness, or hormonal changes.

  • HOE Declovir 5% Cream treats the current outbreak but does not cure the underlying viral infection or prevent future recurrences.
  • People who experience very frequent, severe, or unusually located cold sores, or who have a weakened immune system, should consult a doctor rather than relying on self-treatment alone.
