Overview
Letimble 10mg Tablet contains ezetimibe 10mg, a cholesterol absorption inhibitor used to lower high cholesterol. It is used either on its own, or together with a statin, in patients whose LDL (“bad”) cholesterol is not adequately controlled by diet and a statin alone.
Ezetimibe works at the brush border of the small intestine, where it blocks the absorption of cholesterol from food and from bile. This reduces the amount of cholesterol delivered to the liver, which prompts the liver to clear more LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream, lowering overall cholesterol levels.
How it Works
Ezetimibe selectively blocks a transporter protein (NPC1L1) on the surface of intestinal cells, preventing dietary and biliary cholesterol from being absorbed into the bloodstream. With less cholesterol arriving from the gut, the liver increases its uptake of LDL cholesterol from the blood to make up the shortfall, lowering circulating LDL levels.
Directions for Use
Take Letimble 10mg Tablet once daily, with or without food, at about the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. If your doctor has also prescribed a statin, ezetimibe can usually be taken at the same time, unless you have also been prescribed a bile acid sequestrant (such as cholestyramine), in which case ezetimibe should be taken at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after it.
Dosage
The usual dose of Letimble 10mg Tablet is one tablet once daily, taken alone or together with a statin as prescribed. Your doctor will determine whether ezetimibe is used on its own or combined with a statin, and will periodically check your cholesterol levels and liver function to guide ongoing treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Letimble 10mg Tablet used for?
Letimble 10mg Tablet is used to lower high LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, either on its own or together with a statin, when diet and other cholesterol medicines have not fully controlled it.
Is ezetimibe a statin?
No. Ezetimibe is a cholesterol absorption inhibitor, a different class of medicine from statins. It blocks cholesterol absorption in the gut rather than reducing cholesterol production in the liver, which is why it is often used together with a statin for additional effect.
Can I take this medicine together with my statin?
Yes, ezetimibe is commonly prescribed together with a statin, and this combination is often more effective at lowering LDL cholesterol than either medicine alone. Take both exactly as directed by your doctor.
How long does it take to see a change in my cholesterol?
Ezetimibe typically starts lowering cholesterol within about 2 weeks, with the full effect usually seen after around 4 weeks of regular use.
What should I do if I miss a dose of Letimble 10mg Tablet?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose – in that case, skip the missed dose and continue as normal. Do not double the dose.
Do I still need to watch my diet if I am taking this medicine?
Yes. Ezetimibe works best alongside a cholesterol-lowering diet and regular exercise; it is not a substitute for lifestyle changes recommended by your doctor.
