Overview

Sitavio-M 50/500mg Tablet is a prescription-only medicine (POM) that contains Sitagliptin 50mg (as sitagliptin phosphate monohydrate) and Metformin hydrochloride 500mg. It is supplied as a tablet and is dispensed in Malaysia only against a valid prescription issued by a registered doctor.

Under Malaysian rules for prescription medicines, this page carries product, safety and handling information only. Your doctor or pharmacist will explain whether this medicine is suitable for you, the dose you should take, and how long you should take it.

On DoctorOnCall, Sitavio-M 50/500mg Tablet is reviewed by a licensed doctor through an online consultation and dispensed by a registered pharmacist before delivery. Always follow the instructions on your prescription label and the package insert supplied with the product, and do not share this medicine with anyone else.

Directions for Use

Sitavio-M tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, taken with meals (for example, with breakfast and dinner) to help reduce stomach upset. Do not crush or chew the tablet. If a dose is missed, take it with the next meal as usual; do not double the dose to make up for a missed one. Patients should continue to follow their prescribed diet and exercise plan alongside this medicine.

Dosage

The usual dose of Sitavio-M 50/500mg is one tablet taken twice daily with meals, to reduce the gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. The specific strength prescribed depends on the patient’s current metformin dose and blood glucose control, as assessed by the doctor. Patients should never adjust their own dose or switch between Sitavio-M strengths without medical advice, particularly as metformin dosing may need to be reduced in patients with impaired kidney function.
