Xyloproct Ointment is a combination product containing lidocaine (a local anaesthetic), hydrocortisone acetate (a corticosteroid), aluminium subacetate, and zinc oxide, used to relieve pain, itching, and inflammation associated with haemorrhoids (piles) and other anorectal conditions.
Together, these ingredients numb the affected area, reduce local inflammation and swelling, and provide a protective, soothing effect on irritated skin and tissue around the anus.
Lidocaine blocks nerve signals in the treated area, providing temporary numbness and pain relief. Hydrocortisone acetate reduces local inflammation, swelling, and itching. Aluminium subacetate and zinc oxide have astringent and protective properties that help soothe irritated tissue.
Clean and dry the affected area gently before applying. Use the applicator provided for internal application if directed, or apply directly to external haemorrhoids with clean hands or a clean applicator.
Apply a small amount of ointment to the affected area two to three times daily, or after each bowel movement, or as directed by your doctor, usually for a short course.
Refer to the expiry date printed on the packaging.
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
Xyloproct is used to relieve pain, itching, and inflammation associated with haemorrhoids and other anorectal conditions.
It combines a local anaesthetic to numb pain, a steroid to reduce inflammation, and soothing agents to protect irritated tissue.
It is intended for short-term use only, typically no more than one to two weeks, as prolonged use of the steroid component can thin the skin.
See your doctor if symptoms persist beyond a week or if you notice rectal bleeding, as this requires further evaluation.
Only use combination anorectal products together if specifically directed by your doctor, to avoid excessive exposure to the active ingredients.
A mild, brief burning or stinging sensation can occur on application; if it is severe or persistent, stop use and consult your doctor.
No, this medicine should not be used on untreated local infections – see your doctor for appropriate treatment first.
