Hi, thank you for contacting us.

We understand your concern regarding your father’s knee condition and we will try our best to assist you in addressing your issue.

Inflammation of the knee can be due to various causes and most of it are due to degeneration (or aging), infection and also weight-related.

Depending on the degree of severity of pain and inflammation, some can be managed via analgesia alone and in a more severe and serious issue require knee replacement. But the cause of the pain needs to be investigated first so that a better and right course of treatment can be outlined.

Some of the common causes of knee pain in old age are:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Gouty arthritis
  • Injury to the knee bone or structures

We suggest that you speak to our doctors online via teleconsultation so that we could assist you further and better regarding your father’s symptoms.

We hope that our answer helps. Thank you.
