Visible ulcer on throat on me and my wife
Hi, me and my wife have visible ulcer in our throats. I am having fever on and off since Friday (10-Apr). While, my wife hasn’t had any fever. I have been gargling with mouth wash about ~3 times a day since getting this ulcer, but not recovering yet. I took paracetamol whenever the feverish feeling arises again, but not on schedule. Planning to take Linctus medicine now to help with the throat. Not sure if it helps. Been drinking water whenever i am thirsty, but not recovering yet. My self assessment test says low risk at this moment (only fever and sorethroat). As of now at 1am 13-Apr, i am having fever >37.5C (based on our electronic thermometer at home, verified correct when my wife used it as well - no fever for her). Hope you can give us advise.

Thank you for your questions. The following answers regarding your current queries are just general descriptions due to the limited information provided by you. Click on this link (DoctorOnCall) for a private consultation with our doctors.
Based on your description, the causes of ulcers can be due to several factors such as:
- Herpes infection
- Disease of the hands, mouth and feet
- dehydration
- Ulcers due to biting or foods
- Ulcers from Inflammatory Bowel Disease
If the ulcers persist for more than 2 weeks and the symptoms are not relieved, you are advised to seek further medical check-up to identify the cause for your ulcers and appropriate treatment for it. If both you and your wife has it, the likelihood of ulcer cause by infection is higher. Therefore, we greatly suggest that you refer this to your nearest medical doctor.
