Hi, thank you for the question. There is no cure medication for herpes medication. You can continue the antiviral medication as prescribed by your doctor. Antiviral medication such as aciclovir helps you to recover faster and reduce the pain caused by the outbreak.
Besides that, hydrate yourself by taking lots of fluid, rest well and take painkiller such as aspirin or paracetamol if needed. The blood test you did was to look the antibodies produced by your body against the herpes virus. Although you are diagnosed with herpes infection, you can have a negative results because the body needs a few months to have detectable antibodies in the bloodstream.
This is what we called IgG antibodies. If a IgM antibodies testing is positive, you are having an acute infection. It can be positive if you are tested during an outbreak. Since you are having sports event this weekend, the sores can be painful during activity. Try to wear loose clothings and cotton underpants to allow make sure the sores hurts less.
Apply some antiviral cream on to the sores certainly helps a lot. If you run out of pills, always get back to your doctor for a check up and new medications. You may get more outbreaks in the future when you body immune systems is down. This happened particularly when you are sick or in a stressful situation. Besides that, excessive alcohol intake and exposure to the sun can trigger the herpes outbreak. Have a good day !!!
