I need antibiotic for me and my wife

I have a white to yellowish discharge from my penis. This have occurred about 3 months ago, then it went away. Now it came back and i suspect its a chlamydia / gonorrhea infection. My wife had an ectopic pregnancy last 2 months , had her left side fallopian tube removed and doctor said there are signs of chlamydia/gonorrhea infection and she was given antibiotic but not me. I had a blood test for syphilis/hiv/herpes and it all turned negative but i was not tested for gonorrhea/chlamydia which is of my concern.

I have had sex with my wife, and i think i might reinfect her again because i was not given any medication. Im looking to have the antibiotic for me and my wife both.

Hi there. Thank you for the question. It is apparent that you are worried about your condition. Based on what you have mentioned, it is apparent that you are infected with sexually transmitted diseases (STD). It can be gonorrhea or chlamydial infection. First of all, it is crucial to find out the type of infection you are infected with. It is advisable to consult a doctor regarding this problem. If it is confirmed that you are infected with gonorrhea, it is caused by bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

Symptoms of gonorrhea includes burning or painful sensation during urination, greater frequency or urgency of urination, a pus-like discharge from the penis which can be in white, yellow, beige, or greenish discharge, swelling or redness at the opening of the penis and swelling or pain in the testicle. Gonorrrhea can be treated with certain antibiotics such as azithromycin or ceftriaxone.

If it is confirmed to be chlamydial infection, it is caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. Symptoms of Chlamydia infection includes discharge from your penis, a burning sensation when urinating, burning or itching around the opening of your penis or pain and swelling in one or both testicles. Chlamydial infection can cause pelvic inflammatory diseases in woman which can cause permanent damage to reproductive system. Chlamydial infection can lead to long-term pelvic pain, infertility, and ectopic pregnancy.

Chlamydia can be treated by a course of antibiotics such as azithromycin or doxycycline. Azithromycin will be prescribed once a day for five days meanwhile doxycycline will be prescribed twice daily for a week. The rate of cure is very high for sexually transmitted disease after completing the course of antibiotics. It is pertinent to get yourself treat so you will not reinfect your wife. Since she is already been treated, she wont be needing another course of antibiotics.
