Hi there! Thank you for the question. It is apparent that you are worried about your condition. Well allow me to explain about hypercholesterolemia before answering your question. In a simple term, there is fats in your blood. So when you have fats in your blood, it will get deposited in blood vessel causing it to narrow.

Narrowing of blood vessel causes turbulence in blood flow causing scarring of the vessel. Once the blood vessel is scarred, platelets will be deposited on the injury and overtime this can cause blocked blood vessel. Hypercholesterolemia has no symptom making it a silent killer because you will not know you have this disease till you do a medical test or its too late.

Hypercholesterolemia is usually treated by a group of drugs known as statin and it works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver. It lowers the "bad" cholesterol or also known as low density lipoprotein(LDL) and triglycerides. It also increases "good" cholesterol or also known as high density lipoprotein (HDL) which can decreases the risk of heart disease and prevent strokes and heart attacks.

The usual maximum dose for this medication is 40 milligrams a day and do not take more that that as it can cause harm. The doctors usually prescribe this medications as the benefits outweighs the risks. As to answer your question, it is likely that you are experiencing muscle aches due to this medication.

It is crucial for you to inform your doctor when you experience this symptoms as persistence of muscle pain, unusual tiredness and change in urine amount may suggest kidney problem. This medication also can cause yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, severe abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting which could indicate liver problem. It is advisable to consult your doctor for you condition.
