I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and have been feeling itchy at some parts for my body. Is it safe to use Zam-Buk that contains eucalyptus oil and camphor to ease the itchiness on my skin?
Hello! Thank you for contacting us regarding your question.
Based on your explanation, we understand that you’d like to know if it is safe to use Zam-Buk Ointment to relieve itchiness during pregnancy. We will try to help you out.
Zam-Buk ointment can be used for a variety of reasons which include pain, itchiness, hemorrhoids, and joint pains. The active ingredients of this ointment include camphor, colophony, eucalyptus oil, and thyme oil.
However, before its use during pregnancy, we need to perform a health evaluation and compare the risks and benefits of this ointment for you first as there is not much clinical evidence on the safety of this ointment in pregnant women.
As a general rule of thumb, it is advisable to refer to a doctor before using any medication during pregnancy as it can affect your baby’s development. Your doctor may allow you to use this ointment or prescribe an alternative ointment for your itchiness.
You may consult our online doctor for further assistance regarding this matter.
We hope our answer has been satisfactory. Thank you!
